Just came across this thread guys. Impressive stuff. Being accomplished on the Roman Rings, I'd be happy to contribute to this thread. I spent $35k setting up Roman Rings in my garage and I haven't looked back. Until now. I even sent a photo of the set up to legendary golfer Jack Nicholson to sign. He loved it. He actually commented that the set up looked brand new. He's had the Modernal vaccine and he reckons he has actually tried to catch Covid since, but the vaccine has been too good.
I think the key to any fitness regime is popping a gel BEFORE you get fatigued. Like I went for a 1km walk yesterday, and I popped a gel at around the 800m mark and that held me in good stead for the rest of the walk. Sure, my legs were zapped, but recovery-wise, I'm in the prime of my life.

I know Arfur makes a good point about gels. Has anyone used them and do you have any recommendations on which brands? I had used Maurtens a little while back and they were pretty schmick.

I have used them before, not a fan, before a game I had one and it made me feel gluggy, that was like 3 years ago tho. The brand was Endura

These are great , very easy to get down.. having said that you need to test them as some people have stomach issues with gels

People who run marathons are often not pleased to see their toes, unless they like the sight of thick, purple or missing toenails.

This was my initial thought too, I still remember the first time a toe fell off and grew back all dark grey and munted. Freaked me out as a 16 year old.

I think VFuel are the best I've tried in terms of being easy to get down. Not as sticky and sweet as others. Not cheap though. But I don't have much trouble with any of them if you have them with water.

TBH I don't think you need them before a run (Ligma). Your cells should be charged already. I think that's just marketing. I don't need one during my regular long run either, which is usually about 20k of hilly trails, despite usually doing that before breakfast. They're a bit of a crutch. Much longer than 20 and I'll take them. Usually if I feel wrecked during a run (up to 20k) it's lack of water.

It was before a game….. they had no bananas left so I grabbed one

I’m a GU gel fan, tri-berry. Stomach tolerates it ok, good caffeine dose, a little thick but ok to get down when fatigued. I try to avoid using gels when training to get the body used to burning fat.

Musashi make a beef jerkey flavoured gel. Its not half bad. I'll often smear it on my lips before a walk & so then I can just lick my lips T-Bag style. Sure, I get a few raised eyebrows as I eyeball people that walk past me, but it doesn't bother me. I've got Foxtel.

For masochists in the SE suburbs, though the 1000 steps are closed, Lyrebird Track, which most people go down after they go up the steps, is open and has plenty o steps. Not sure how many. Was trying to think happy thoughts, not count.

Holy *

I just ran 40 mins, I’m drenched in sweat because I did it in my garage on the treadmill. I feel good as *, running on 4 hours of sleep, I have never been so motivated as I just received my first nomination to the northern knights and it’s my first season in footy.

even though the treadmill bores the * out of me and my adhd tells me that it’s so boring every two seconds I told myself “only 5 minutes more” until the last second.

why am I going on about it? I don’t know but my running program is going down like a treat

edit: anyone with a Garmin please tell me how you make it more accurate on the treadmill
