So you would pass on Rich if available at 4?

Read the post. If we pick two midfiedlers with the first two picks, then most Port supporters will be shaking their heads in disbelief.

If Rich is there we'll probably take him. Id be stunned if we then go on and take another mid with 22.

further down the track for any club would be Matthew Beayni. can be a great asset to any team with his aerobic capacity, great marking ability and booming left foot. a smokey in my eyes, showed interest from only a few clubs but i guess the question will be...will any of those clubs take the chance at this young star who can only improve as the years go on.

I would be stoked if we got Swift and lisle with our first 2 picks.

We need a midfielder, and Swift is all class whilst i think Lisle would be a great Key back similar to Sam Fisher. Ive always thought he would go to Hawthorn at pick 16, so if he slipped to us at 29. it would be a bargain.

If we got Rich at 4, there would be zero chance of getting another midfielder with our second pick

Would be pretty happy with this
Trengove/Sidebottom and Robinson/Schoenmakers
Doesn't get too much better than that

Surely if Trengove is worth taking at 10 (for Adelaide) then he is worth taking at 5 (Essendon). Most people would put a fit Trengove ahead of a fit Hurley. Nothing special from the Herald Sun.
that's some of the weirdest logic i've heard in a while
so using the same logic Port should take Hartlett over Rich because Hartlett is good enough to be pick 9?

Not bad from an Essendon perspective.
I do think that we should take a quality midfielder at pick five, such as Ziebell or Hartlett. If Rich slips to us then that would be amazing.

I rate Ashley Smith, I would be very happy taking him with pick twenty-three. Very quick and I see him rotating in the midfield and off the half back line.

Pies would have good 2 picks:

Swift - Ton of Potental and can win a lot of the ball and help our On-Ballers

Lisle - Tall Backman who can go along with Brown quite nicely

I'd be stoked if we got one of Hurley, Yarran, Rich or Hartlett

Hurley would bolster our young forward stocks given that Knights has earmarked Pears, Daniher and Hooker for defence

If Essendon draft Hurley it will be to play full back. That will allow Pears to play on the third tall and Ryder at CHB. It would be silly to draft Hurley as a forward considering we already have Neagle and Gumbleton.

I know its only early but i dont see Daniher and Hooker as long term key position players but obviously i hope that they do develop into good players.

Would another slow midfielder improve the Cats after Hawthorn's pace and quick ball movement troubled them in the Grand Final?

This is what makes me laugh. People get carried away with raw leg speed these days. Steele is obvously no UBolt but he is quick enough through mind and skill. Quick movement of the footy makes everybody look fast not just pure running. Tell me is Murphy, Gibbs, or Bentick fast? Thought so

It annoys me to see so called professionals make basic
strategy errors in their drafts. The Sun has Freo picking
Ballantyne at 21 and Mckernan at 24. That would be
criminally stupid. There is almost no chance that Port or
Essendon would pick Ballantyne at 22 or 23, but a very
good probability that Mckernan would go at 22 or 23. So
if Freo wanted those 2 players, they would take Mckernan
at 21. It doesn't really matter because Freo will not take
Ballantyne in the 2nd round.
I also saw another draft that had Melbourne taking Roughead
at 17. Why? West Coast are no chance of taking Roughead at
18 if they take Nat at 2, but they may take the mid that the
Dees were looking at for 18.
