so using the same logic Port should take Hartlett over Rich because Hartlett is good enough to be pick 9?

I was just suggesting that if Trengove has fully recovered from his leg injury that the Bombers should take him ahead of Hurley. The Herald Sun had Trengove at 9, which suggests that they think he is not a risk and has got over his injury. Therefore, it would make more sense to have Trengove at 5 and Hurley further down the pecking order. Hopefully this makes sense.

I wouldn't have thought so - I think we have bigger priorities than taking someone like Sidebottom. Would prefer McKernan myself.

I have no doubt that they looked at our draft for that pick, which makes me think there could easily have been a few other influences from our draft.

It's been happening for a while now, the hun finds a draft, dusts it off and thinks, hey this aint bad. I remember in 2006 when they had us picking Tippett with our first pick. Tippett went 32 and Riewoldt went to us. The hun is often way off. This is why I buy the age, their sports section is much better and outside Caro, they know what they're talking about.

there are always some players that slide, they might just think that mckernan is going to be this years slider.

beams at 25, well with over 30 picks there are going to be some that are the same. its just a fact. that is the only second round pick that is the same, this one in particular is VERY harsh

and with the nathan okeefe one, well theres been a heap of talk of him goin to geelong on our board... now you might say that that just reinforces your point. BUT surely if a rumour like that can spread on an internet forum then football reporters that are paid to find these things out would hear about it too.

If his knees hold up - you just got yourself a top 3 pick.

Club medicos will be earning their keep in the 7 - 16 range that is for sure.

No doubt the Eages will pounce with the PP if no one takes the plunge.

I understand that Swift is a significantly bigger risk. Selwood never had a full reconstruction as Swift did. Plus, Swift has barely played a game in TWO years and has grown significantly in that time - if his knees hold up there's still the possibility that he's no longer nearly as good as he once was.

Well I'd be har pressed to name a previous draftee this highly rated who had such glaring medical issues and quesion marks, can you? Two serious knee injuries that were non-contact, going 2 years without playing a serious game, let alone a full colts game. Then people throw in the extra growth factor, though I don't know how a big an issue that is compared to his recovery from injuries and not having put his body thorugh the general rigours. Judd had shoulder issues, but had played a bit. Selwood only missed one year, and injuries weren't as serious.

Swift is a fantastic kid, by all accounts very studious and well spoken and always talked of as being serious leadership material. His measurables are excellent and his performances at U16 were simply jaw-dropping. It all really returns to a question of risk, and if you're at pick 11 looking at either Steele Sidebottom, Lewis Johnson, Sam Blease, Chris Yarran, Mitch Robinson and Swift the risk becomes large. How much bigger a payoff is Swift compared to Sidebottom? How much bigger a risk? That's why I think he'll slide - there's too many really good players available in the top 20/25 for the 2 serious knee injuries not to be a key factor. Clubs like Hawthorn/Geelong with stacked lists could afford to take the risk as could those with the PP, but aging sides like NM, Sydney, Saints, Adelaide (as far as midfields) probably would stay clear.

Wherever he gets drafted I wish him luck, but if I only had 1 pick in the top 20/25 I don't think I'd stake it on Swift when there are so many other quality options.

I have played with Nath for a period and I have watched him a fair bit, the only thing that I would say could hold him back at the moment is his body size.

Geelong with pick 15 is what I have heard over the past few days, but I would say maybe a late 2nd pick would be more likely.
He's tall, great mark, very decent set of skills and reads the play.
