bad luck guys i feel for all of you, now is your time to rebuild, blood some youngens!! follow suit find some late draft pick gems and give them game time, plus your year 2 and 3 players!

good luck for next year:thumbsu:

Initial reaction, absolutely shattered. Time to sit and think (on the long drive home from the pub) and realise that we just weren't good enough (not just today, but all year). In front for most of the game despite some excellent pressure from the young hawks side. They wanted it more. We made mistakes (both players and coach). End of season.

I cannot understand with 60 seconds to go & kicking out with a 3 point lead, why you would not kick to yourself then milk it for a rushed behind, this can be done 2 times & you have used up the clock & still won by a point. Frankly very poor time management, these players are paid to do the job, Johncock is supposed to be the best decision maker in th team, nearly coughed it up on the kick out the more senior players finished the job.

Burton is now officially over & out. Craig can work with the young players that want to learn & are not bigger than the team  :mad::mad:

Harsh call on Johncock he wouldn't know how long was left you couldn't expect him to rush 2 behinds like that. Those sort of plans always end up coming out of the losing sides playbook.

Stop looking at a single element that had no result on the result.

How can you say that:eek:

No matter what went on all game, he had less than a minute to ice the clock. 3 points up, there was an obvious obvious out...kick a bloody point and reset.

He was a good player (could have been better if not for terrible execution, sorry to use a NC cliche) but yes it certainly affected the result

It cost the game.

Thonpson.

It is a bit unfair to put the weight of a loss over 2 hours onto one specific play but in the end if he just kept his cool the Crows probably would have hung on.

It is unfortunate for him, to have to carry that burden because the team could have done a lot of little things throughout the 2 hour period so he was not put in that position.

Footy can be cruel. I thought in the end the experience of the Crows would have got them over the line but some of your experienced players made some uncharacteristic errors, poor decision making, not hitting targets, etc.

On the up side, you can have a big pre-season, get back all the injured players and have a big 2008.

It was the right lay to move the ball out to the boundary and try and get it away from goals. Hawthorn had manned u very well and didn't allow Thomson an easy option while also pressuring his kick. For Lance to kick a goal from 55m out on that angle being a left footer to win a final is a bit harsh to blame on anyone. You could point out many other mistakes that could of cost the game.

A few of our big names had shockers today no matter what the stats say.

One incident late in a game doesn't cost the game its the whole game.

I said before on another thread, about Gills first game.

He didn't cost us the game, but he could have won it.

Same here.

I thought the boys in the most gave it all & the game was a mirror of our season. I am proud of the club & look forward to next season (players back - -young talent more wiser for the experience. 3 senior players gave up turnovers that cost us 3 goals. Coachs need to make some hard decisions a Blight did before we won back 2 back.

on the ending:

The runners tell the players how much time is left, especially when it is that close to FT, you are kidding yourself if you think it does not happen.

poor decision making cost us at least 3 games this year. Freo, saints & today:thumbsd:

Certianly didn't help.

But starting/leaving Massie on Franklin was the single biggest influence on the result IMO. Would he have kicked 7 goals on Bock?

Less then a minute to go, 3 points down and the ball is out of bounds on the full. Kick to frankilin. Goal. Sure didn't win us the game.

Absolutely gutted. To add salt to the wound in the car on they way home, listening to the radio the majority of Hawthorn supporters that were ringing up were complaining about the umpires!! Dont really want to hear that after a 3 point loss!
