White hills v Broadford 34pts
Elmore v North Bendigo 29pts
Mt Pleasant v Huntly 63pts
LBU v Colbo 8pts

What about those poor Bonnie Doon Locals, poor buggers won't have a club next year!!!

All this talk of bean counters has me tipping the broadbean by 6 goals. Doona's joey's will have it on string, Taylor to be all over it, Sam that is, and walk away with the monkey off their backs for 08'.

Elmore to field a stronger side and run away with it - 39 points.

Huntly in an upset. 3 points

Colbo by 4 goals.

Exactly, football clubs are a non profit organisation so aslong as your club is keeping afloat if you've got the money spend it.
No use bragging about having $50grand in the bank if your sitting on the bottom.

Top clubs would spending $80.000-$120.000 and middle to bottom clubs between $40.000-$70.000.

Ya havin a kick tomorrow Pinnacle??

LBU will improve with players like Rick Pritchett, Snoop Treacey, Baker, Boldock, Crockford. Also the addition of Ryan McMinn and Jayden Baldwin who have come out of the 3rds. injuries hit LBU hard last year and this year they are looking a fitter side (Bongy is very very fit, didnt play much last year)

I went and watched the game as I thought with this improvement LBU should beat Colbo. I know Grant Weekes kicked 9 ( which may or may not happen more regularly) but LBU were smashed all over the ground. Ellis was also good directing play all day. Colbo by 10 goals.
Based on that performance I think Colbo may be a bit better than I thought or LBU are no further "improved" than previous years.

Watched the Mts v Huntly it was a good tough, fair game with lots of sore boys on both sides. Mts threatened to win by 15 goals or more early in the last quarter but, unlike previous years, Huntly kept trying and managed to reduce the margin. Any Mounts supporters got an update on Troy Shannon, hope he is o/k?
The margin in the Locky-Colbo game is a surprise but I guess Weeks wont play every game.
Doona's boys had more scoring shots so they look to be heading in the right direction and I thought North would show a bit more fight.

Colbo were really good in the second half. Locky kicked about 5 in the second quarter to be up by 3 points at half time. BOG was Damien Ellis. Thought Travis Kelly did a good job on Sam Newth as well. Sam Hill kicked 5, but was overshadowed by Weeks kicking 8-9(?) Bongiovanni and Collins were my best 2 for Locky. Was a good test for both sides.

From what i have heard today Roy is ok, had a bit of concussion but no serious injuries or broken bones is the word which is great news. Was a pretty sickening clash

reports i hear from a good colbo source my friend is that bongy only had 16 possies for the whole day and was well held after half time by colbos pat o'brien. find it hard for bongy to be in the best 2 if this is correct? anyone know how anthony baker went for locky?

Hey Doona, hows the young fella who got hurt?

Fantom

Yeah he's (Gilly) going to be ok :thumbsu: think he may have moved a disc when he fell onto a nerve, hence the sensations down the left leg. Had all the necessary scans etc and was allowed to head home last night :thumbsu:

Close aint good enough though Im afraid:mad: yes we have a young list (no excuse) but we had 22 capable senior players out there yesty who were absolutely devastated (as was I) when the siren went.

Reckon we played 10-15 minutes of the 2nd term and put together a good 3rd quarter. Was down to one fit man to rotate just b4 the last change and anyone at the game saw the Hillies run run run very well in the 4th to get over us - Bart and Sarge I thought were sensational in the last term and yes the Pinnacle jagged the important one's late.

Was the best player on the ground in the first half by a mile and fell away/ well held whatever you want 2nd half. Would have been in their best 3.

Tony M is back in town care of the taxpayer shortly. May be able to support the club with a few more recruits. recession proof business and plenty of cash. all you need is a secluded farm................

Are the blokes that have gone this year likely to return to Broadford in the coming years and if you were to coach again next year or perhaps one of them, would you be chasing these blokes knowing you cant compete with $$$?

I couldn't say what the intentions of the players that left us are beyond 2008. I also couldn't say what's gunna happen for myself at this stage, as if we can't get a win shortly the decision might be one I don't even get a say in. Tough to say on ya 3rd point, as it will come down to when the lads have the drive (or interest) in representing their home club again, because we will never be able to get near what they're earning now if it ever came to down to coin. Whether it's during my stint or not, it would be sad for all involved with the BFNC if we've seen the last of the guys in question - although I strongly doubt that would be the case :(

Doona, this is what I was talking about earlier. I don't reckon your committee would want you discussing the fact they have no money. :)

Anyways, looks like your guys stepped it up which is good.

Went out to Toolleen (spelling?) and Huntly started the game well, but had a sleep again in the middle stages, before finishing off okay. Jamie Gee had a field day up forward with great delivery from his midfield. The Hawks had a stack of the ball, but their key forwards couldn't take a mark, and their roving forwards were nowhere to be seen, which has been a problem all season. Jesse O'Connell kicked 4 and will be a good prospect for them however.

Roota, did you play???

It's not as if the club dont have money - of course we do it's more that we probably dont have as much as others. I like the idea of giving every kid that represents us a few bob - many are still at school or uni, or taking on appreticeships. Perhaps they do have more and it's my thoughts and stubborness of not falling into the $500-$700 a player category thats holding them back ;)

I'm sure if anyone has an issue they'd come to me

Probably that you dont go throwing it away like other clubs. Theres difference in winning a Grand Final because you spent more money than other clubs and being competitive because you put in the hard work. Sure everyone wants to win a Medal. But down the track will you look back and think you had a great time winning that flag with all those toss bag blokes that got paid so much or geez I had a great time playing with those honest blokes that worked so hard together!!
You need to earn respect, you cant pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!!
