surprised by wellingham's 92% in the back half... easy to judge him for his poor midfield effort when he was literally never there
Simpson said he was played as a defender.

My guess is this was because we had outlet players in Hurn and Yeo, forced to play on key forwards. My guess, Wellingham was pushed into defence due to his experience tagging and his overhead ability, to rotate through defensive roles and try and release some of our backs.

Masten wins a lot of the ball in the backline but doesn't have the pace to follow up with line breaking efforts further up the ground. Doesn't have much capacity for repeat efforts as running player and that effects the speed of ball movement when he's involved.

The area between the edge of the circle and the square is where you want your attacking players getting lots of the ball and it clearly hasn't happened.

Shows a very Hawthorne like game plan with the careful chipping and over possessing coming out of the back line then once we past the centre square we move the ball quicker with longer kicks .

Nice response spud!!
Mate ive been dirty on Brown for quite some time now, not because of his talent but his durability...sadly he can't last a full AFL match let alone a season. Not an injury troll either but this will be the 3rd time he has not made it to quarter time in an AFL match.

That's what i noticed on Saturday night.

It's fairly effective when we have the pill to be honest.

The problem is we get smashed in clearances & contested possessions, and our tackling efforts are often sub-par.

Ipso facto, the opposition has the pill more than us - a problem which is compounded by the poor defensive efforts (and abilities) of our mids.

Rome wasn't built in a day, you can see where Simpson is trying to take the club and when we weed out some of the deadwood from the middle we will be a good team in the long run.

So I don't know about you, but I see a picture of a sailboat if I stare at it long enough?
