Broken Record Board
I mean this pretty seriously,

What can he possibly add to your team, a waste of a pick that could have been used to pick up a younger player i reckon.

Yes and have have mentioned it 1000 times in 2 months:rolleyes:
Just come back at the end of the season , you cant make a judgment on a couple of practice games and a NAB Cup game. Not all of us think he will do anything either but it cant be changed now. When he turns out to be a dud pick he wont be the first and he wont be the last. All clubs make 2 or 3 mistakes a year as far as players and player lists go! Any kid we could have picked up could be a bigger dud , it is not like Heff cost us a pick in the first 5 rounds of the National draft;)

Do you really think we don't know Heffernan's strengths and weaknesses better than you ? He played over 100 games with Essendon before we cleared him to Melbourne. Getting him back is a risk, but one we're prepared to take.
There's more at stake than merely drafting him back.We owe him - after dumping him through our salary debacle.

Footballs a cut-throat business, you wont win anything if you are drafting players back for sentimental reasons.

We had the same situation with Woey last year, but im happy we decided not to take him, sure it would have been great to have him back but it wouldnt have been in the best interests of the Footy club.

We axed three blokes who had been premiership players because of our mishandling of the salary cap - such acts can destroy a clubs fabric, and being a club whose players don't usually want to leave, it's a matter of PRIDE that we try and make amends.
Heffernan was a darned good footballer before he was struck down with a crippling groin injury, and I think he had op as well. He didn't set the world on fire at Melbourne, he wasn't happy there (although I don't know why), and this is his last chance. We have a very young, very light midfield and his experience will be of help - we hope.

We got Hef for nothing, a pick in what was a pretty thin pre-season draft. He is much loved by the club and is a mile better than Pevrill. I'm pretty happy we got him. And remember, Melbourne wanted to give him another contract but he choose us.

And he was reasonble last night. Certainly didn't disgrace himself.

I agree some people think that just because a premiership player gets traded he is some sought of superstar, he never will be!!! played consistently but will get better at disposal when the season starts.

Firstly, your user name says it all.

Secondly, refer to the first point.

Thirdly, I fail to see how 'the future captian' who gathers on averaged 10 disposals a game could be better than Pev. At least Pev goes in for the ball and isn't a turn over merchant like future captain. I was sort of glad we saw the arse end of him a few years back.

Peverill is our best stopper. Heffernan is a different type of tagger. They play different roles and may be able to play in the same team ofrm warranting.

Watching the game, didn't think either played that badly. The players who were ordianry were Bolton, Reynolds and Mr Lloyd is just a wooden post when Michael plays on him.

Can't read too much else into it but Lloyds ability to have an affect on the outcome of the game is a worry, simply because he is too far from the action. Hopefully he plays more like he did against Port in 2004 when push comes to shove.

Where did 'the future captain' come into this? Granted that Pev is very brave and will give his all, but to suggest he doesn't turn the ball over is absurd. His disposal is shocking by hand or foot.
