Help: Etax/online Tax Returns

I was just about to start my tax return. Every year I always go to the ato website and do the free online tax return. I'm sure what i use is called etax but when I go into it there seems to be a charge.

I don't wanna be charged, i have a simple tax return and if i'm doing it online i'm doing all the work anyway.

Is there another link i should be going into?, i always use the free one.

We tried using it, and when it got to the part where you verify your identity against last year's notice of assessment, it told us the details didn't match, despite having the information right there in front of us.

So, H&R Block, here we come..... at least I can deduct the cost of going to them.

I think i may have found the one i was looking for. Initially i went to ato.com.au which seems to be an accountant website masquerading as the ato website. It actually takes you to accountant tools online (ato)...very very clever.

I then found ato.gov.au which seems to have the free e-tax programme that i was looking for.

My tax return comprises of

1 Group Certificate
1 Health Insurance Tax Statement
No Deductions

There's no way I'm paying someone $80 plus for that.

I've never had any problems with matching the identity against LY, I guess I'll do it and see what happens.

I have to pay $335...stupid medicare surcharge. I didn't get health insurance til March so I have to pay the missing gap.

lol Its telling me my that my name doesn't match my notice of assessment...yet it does. I think I might give them a call.


Edit: Just rang them. It asks you to enter your full name as it appears on your NOA, then it asks you to enter your given name as it appears on the NOA. But I entered the full name on both, but the second question was only after the given name. Doh!!
