Analysis Help for Schache and Boyd?

I feel like Schache and Boyd need/needed a 15-20 game stretch in the forward line. Especially if we are going to be finishing low on the ladder regardless. Can add Lewis Young at the other end of the ground for the same period too.

Not sure we are developing the talls the right way.

I want your opinions guys, I know some of you are gonna bag me and call me a muppet, I don’t care. But, I’m a very passionate supporter of our club, and I’m not afraid to say it as it is. The question that I want to ask, and it shits me that this doesn’t happen is this. We have no.1 and no.2 draft pick, key tall forwards at the club. One, Boyd has had physical and mental health issues holding him back, Schache also, but why don’t we employ specialist coaches or mentors say a Wayne Carey, Mathew Lloyd or Brereton to show these guys how it’s done? I know I’ve said this before, but Jesus Christ. The first time in my time, nearly 40 years of following the Dogs, we’ve got two big key forwards who were highly rated, we don’t get them any extra help. Now, I don’t want to hear sarcasm or bullshit responses. Please be half decent with your opinions. Cheers

I like the idea
We need to get games into both Schache (44) & Boyd (61)
It’s surprising how little Boyd has played
We need to get both of them on the park & supported by other talls to lessen the load
Bevo might be a problem there as he tends to play talls in isolation
It’s possible a new specialist coach may help them – may not
Nevertheless it might be worth looking at
Money might be the problem as most posts I read continually say we are not rich
Not sure where all the money goes considering the TV rights are about the same
There maybe a difference in memberships & gate takings not sure how much
It might be like the 70s & we need a royal commission – only joking about the royal commission – not the 70s though worst luck
If we have the money why not - you have my vote

The coach is the main problem with them imo

Sees Boyd as a ruckman, sees Schache as a back up ruck

Boyd is a deep marking forward/forward target/relief ruck

Schache is purely a centre half forward/hit up type

Would need to be a significant shift in the coaching ranks for us to get the best out of these two imo

I would love for Reiwoldt do some work with Schache, I think he could offer him a lot.
Yep, someone who was competent at CHF would work as that's clearly Schaches best position working hard and hitting up

And that someone cannot be a yes man to Bevo either

Bevos gameplan is massively flawed, when we had third man up and no zones it'd work, now with 666 we need to shift to more one on one players

Wishful thinking mate. Until Boyd can average far more than 2 marks a game (never averaged more than three) he will nothing but a liability fwd as we are a player down when tbe ball hits the deck (and on current form Boyd aint marking it)

Schache is a just little man trapped in a big mans body. Until he learns hunger to impact a contest consistently (less likely than Boyd learning to mark IMO)he will remain a week to week proposition IMO. Posssibly he can play as a flankèr but he really hates body contact (Boyd no fan either).

A couple of good constructive posts
Well done

When Boyd had a brief stint forward early last year he actually moved better than I’d ever seen him and he got a few on quick leads (sprayed some shots but was getting to the right spots).

Then he went to the ruck until he was injured. I don’t think Bevo wants him forward all game because others are better at putting pressure on. Not sure that suits Boyd though.

He’s actually quite a clever leading player and can take a grab, but not when he has three defenders sitting on him and the ball takes a week to come in.

666 would suit him quite well I think. He’s good with space but has almost never had it. Bevo said last year he thinks Boyd will end up being a good forward. I just really hope he gets a chance there again soon.
