Help me decide what big bash team I should support

Why do you have to go for a team? It seems pointless to just pick a team for the sake of it, there has to be an ingrained reason to support a team or it is just meaningless.

Just let it happen naturally, I say.

I was subject to brainwashing as a youngster when it comes to Footscray, but as for every other team I support, they've grown on me over time for a variety of reasons - I found myself hoping they'd win the local derby because the other team annoyed me somehow, I attended their games just because circumstances allowed, etc.

Picking a team just doesn't seem to work, at least not for me. That's not to say there hasn't been a point in time when I've decided/realised that I support a team, but there's always been more leading up to it than a simple poll, to use the most obvious example.

He supports the Scorchers because they won a poll. I like the Scorchers because my mate plays there. He should support his state in a state competition.

Indeed. And the same applies to the 'you should support the state you live in' b/s, even if he does. There's no reason why he shouldn't support another team if he likes them more. In fact, that's far healthier than the usual brainless stupidity we get of people advocating for Player X to be put in the Australian team not on any merit but only because he happens to live closer to them than someone else!

Not my point. You support Perth because they won this poll, and because you live outside Melbourne it doesn't really matter that you don't support a Melbourne side, but you're a Victorian. You should support Victoria in the Shield.

I consider the ODIs and Shield games as 'state of origin' as you like, while the T20 BBL series is more like the AFL.
