If you like Alex Lloyd, Watching Angels Mend isn't a bad album.
The Foo Fighters' One By One is also good.
Powderfinger's Vulture Street
Silverchair's Diorama, my personal favourite

If you go to HMV or Sanity, they have a pretty big archive of albums you can search for.

Everybody needs some soul - Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Aretha, Otis etc.

I'm listening to funk as I type and suggest you also get some James Brown and Sly & The Family Stone.

To get you started:
Al Green - Let's Stay Together / Love and Happiness
Aretha - Good Times / Respect
Breakestra - Getcho Soul Togetha
Curtis Mayfield - Superfly / Pusherman / Move On Up
James Brown - Papas Got A Brand New Bag / I Feel Good
Otis - (Sittin On the) Dock of The Bay / Ole Man Trouble
Marvin Gaye - I Heard It Through The Grapevine/ What's Going On
Sly - Everyday People / Dance To The Music

It'll open up a whole nother world and put a little bounce in your step.

You like pretty middle of the road stuff to me and pretty easy listening.

Richard Ashcroft (ex Verve) - Alone With Everybody
David Gray - White Ladder (easy to listen to)

Oldie but a favourite of mine

Jim Croce - best of

Check out Damien Rice's album "O", David Gray's "White Ladder" and if you like accoustic music with a touch of country check out Bright Eye's "I'm Wide Awake, it's Morning".
