Must give credit to Collingwood, as despite Sprogga, Cloke, and Lockyer having poor nights they found enough.

However, I no longer understand the rules of our great game, and have the odd example :
  1. What part of the rules does the goal umpire not understand with a ball hitting what is still the back of the post?
  2. If a player has 30 sec to kick the ball, Thomas marks with 31 sec to go in the quarter, and kicks 15 sec after the siren goes, why is this OK?
  3. When Kosi took a mark, went back and passed to Armo, he was run down from behind even though he had not played on. Why isn't this automatically 50m?
  4. In a 10 sec passage of play, Harvs was legged by "Kicker" Didak, and then Dal was tripped by hand by Thomas who had slipped. The rules on tripping have changed?
  5. The BJ/Locker one speaks for itself. I was arguing with a Collingwood supporter about it until it was replayed (then it was strangely silent behind me). This was a crucial decision and put them two goals up going into the last quarter.
  6. Then Rocca fluffs a handball, scoops it up a metre in the air then hits it with an open hand, and this is no longer a free? Whilst I concede it was worth the subsequent free against Max to see a 33m torpedo, this (a throw) gets paid all day long in other games.
  7. Then to really get up our nose, he pays the one when Heath Shaw just barrels Chucky G into the square. What the?
  8. At a boundary throw in, Wood loses his footing and decides to give Gardi a hug around the waist in the ruck contest. I know they give ruckmen some latitude but please.
  9. Max's holding the ball when Sprogga was sitting on it was just a crowd free. Or maybe it was because Scotty Burns complained at half time? What - Max is supposed to give Rocca a "special massage" so he can fully lay the egg out the back?
  10. Milne caught Johnson napping and he dropped it like a hot spud. Does having a low intellect give you a longer prior opportunity? I am also going to start a petition called "Give Milne a 50/50 free kick". I know it won't happen, so maybe I need to throw in $100 to the next umpire who pays one. I wouldn't expect a collect.
Oh, and thanks for that absolutely sh!th0use center bounce which went out of the circle Collingwood's way and led to a goal. Making up for the North game already?

Also, Dennis Commetti noticed an interchange 30m on the ground? Geez, they have really tightened the rules haven't they.

Great post - absolute sh!thouse effort by those maggots again. If I have a daughter one day I'd prefer her to be in the adult film industry rather than date an AFL umpire. Enough said.

Re Friday night Collingwood were too good. We refused to man up one on one, then chipped around when we had it. Gehrig looked dangerous in the 1st qtr, then he just had no supply. Poor bastard has the media all over him now. Our backline did an ok job, we just broke down at half forward... Again.

Lennys two missed goals in the final term were costly too... But really how much more did the midfield have to do?

Good post.

Sorry can't help you out though, I'm just as confused as you ...

These two really got me fired up. Both times we had worked hard for goals and then soft things like these are payed or in the centre bounce case we have little to no chance to get involved in the play.

And it's not like they didn't affect the outcome. 9 points is not much. If we'd gone in even 3 points down at the final break, which we should have if not for that RIDICULOUS free against Beeg, the game could have gone anywhere.

Impressive list Squizzy

I haven't seen the replay of the game for obvious reasons but the free kick that Swan received in the first quarter for holding the man after he had taken the mark and played on baffled me as well. Did he actually handball it?

I mean we lost the game because of our own incompetence but the umpires played their part. When I saw of the Goddard/Lockyer free kick that was enough for me.

I don't want to sound like Barks4eva but fair dinkum. Stay the ____ out of the game UNLESS the free kick is very obviously there. That free kick could have gone either way and just killed us.

I forgot about that one - was it when the ball spilled in a good tackle and Leigh Fisher held on? That rule is very harsh on players, as the tackler can't always be expected to know the ball has spilled. A 50/50 call for mine which unfortunately also didn't fall our way.

If I was being real cute, I would say the (1) when Harry Whathisname handballed onto Gardi's leg was out of play (given Gardi's leg was on the line and Harry was handballing back into play (2) when Leon "Fluoro" Davis kicked that nice snap, just prior he was running out of bounds and threw it back into play a-la KB - no longer allowed???
