Would a site devoted to rhyming Aussie slang help?

Or would an obscure word and vocabulary resource help?

I know, not particuarly original by me, but they may assist

Do you ever do any shows in WA?

I've never actually been to WA, so the answer to that is no.

Last comedy festival was my first solo one hour show, rather than just doing spots at comedy clubs, so in that respect I'm still pretty new to "doing shows"

I was in a show in Edinburgh last year though. That's very Australian, to have been to Scotland, but not to WA!

As some of you may know, I am a stand up comedian.

I had an idea for a bit about weird words that everyone knows, but noone uses.

So I was wondering whether people could help me brainstorm.

I'm thinking of words like

RIGMAROLE
IMBROGLIO
FURPHY
HIGGLEDY-PIGGLEDY
etc

You know, strange words like that.

Away you go, toot suite!

come-say-come-sah

rambunctious
macguffin - a phrase created by Hitchcock referring to a story line that really means nothing else to the actual movie.

Vertiginous

Dirigible

OK, this is getting a bit far away from the original topic.

The idea was words where everyone knows what they mean but they're hardly ever used.

I don't know if I'm dumb, but I don't know what the hell Palimpsest means!

By all means post them, but if you're posting "hard" words, include a definition...

A palimpsest is a piece of paper that has been written on more than once. It's also frequently used in its symbolic sense, in how it represents its own history.

To feel vertiginous is to feel dizzy, or as if you have vertigo. More generally, if you feel unstable.

Thaumaturgy is basically just a fancy word for magic.

A dirigible is an airship.

ameliorate

Ameliorate is not a bad one. As in,

Question. "Where'd the pizza go?"
Answer. "Ameliorate the whole f**king thing."

Nahh, it's a bit ostentatious.

Monty Burns does a great line of ye oldy-worlde words "fill my carriage with petroleum distilate. And re-vulcanize my tyres, poste haste!" "Lollygeggers, noodleheads etc." There was one episode somewhere where he fully went to town on outdated words, but I can't remembe which one. Not that you could just rip it off of course Yianni, but you might get some thoughts.
