Better qualified poster! We will be lucky to fill half the spaces let alone have 'better qualified posters' vying for our games!

You might be right mate.

I'm hoping that for every poster that values this board only as a place to vent there's one that sees a community that needs support and contribution to thrive.

What are you talking about? I've already written a review that has half the games covered.

Put this in from me any week that noone else submits one.

Backs have been great lately. Mids a bit up and down but with Grundy, Adams, Pendles and Sidey, I think we'll get on top around the ball. Up forward, Cox has been quiet, but I've got a feeling he's going to have a big game.

I think we'll smash them

Pies by 7 goals

I reject your false dichotomy, Twiggy. My vents are an evocative contribution to the life of this board.

PS: I would volunteer to write a preview, but it'd probably be about anything and everything other than football, whatever occupies my mind at the time, and this would be a provocation to the serious-minded among us.

You never so, someone may do one game and decide to do more. Or once the season starts, familiarity with other teams may make the task seem easier. It's not really that difficult to do a preview. The idea is just to add a bit of interest to the game with a stirring OP.

sr36 I am surprised you have not volunteered for a game. Your football knowledge is among the best in the forum. Unlike me, you won't have to do hours or research. I am more worried about the opposing team, hence have chosen the Swans because my mate now in the USA will feed me info about their players. He can't resist talking up the team, and immediately gave me 4 nobodies (to me) to follow. It's knowledge of the opposition that is the most daunting aspect of it.

Doesn't matter, JB. I think the strength of this approach could be the variety of styles it produces. Everyone will be different. I am quite looking forward to seeing what posters do.

I've got no issue with diversity, as long as I'm directing it.

I think I have a pretty good take on the patterns, but not necessarily on the players. I'm not good on opposition teams. Last year I only watched about 5 non-Pies games. Throw in commitment issues. Throw in that it's one thread I don't read that often. But I'll put my name down for one.

Edit: But will wait a day or two in the hope it fills up first.

Edit 2: I blame jathanas for guilting me into it.

I rarely watch non-pies games, a habit formed from spending winter overseas and having to watch games on dodgy streams. By nominating a game, there is the chance to specialize. This would suit a family person where sons, wives. daughters. husbands are staunch supporters of different teams. Or someone with a mate who barracked for another team - an hour or two's conversation near the date would be sufficient.

I wanted the GC game, but someone else had signed up. There I team I'm looking forward to watching this year - mainly because of Izzy Rankine, but a few of their other youngsters are exciting too.

Is this directing of diversity happening even when you're getting your stomach pumped in a Sydney hospital, or would you take a break for "health reasons"?

Your preview would be a majestic thing of literal beauty and it could very well include the game of football... but perhaps not literally.

I can put a hoof up to do round 15 against Freo. I can't promise it won't be mostly about ponies though. Fair warning.

Some good flattery here. I'm somewhat insulted that you both know I'm pathetic enough to be susceptible to it.

Maggie, I can see the good sense of your round 1 proposition, but I've always subscribed to the wisdom of Homer Simpson: why do today/now what you can easily put off until tomorrow/later?

Maybe I'll put my name down for the second half of the season. Flatter and badger me tomorrow and I'll quite possibly go against the motto on my family coat of arms: 'He who volunteers is haggis. Just don't do it'.

Maggie5 mark me down for round 1. I have thought about the advantage of no comparisons and am sure a few volunteers to come will be pleased with my low set bar. I'll stay monosyllabic so sideswipe can get invovled

Cmon Gimpy, think of it as a job application for the head Mod job. Youcandoit

Kala re.. if you want a thesaurus job.. I'm your man.. copy and paste the match day preview from the afl website.. then thesaurus it re.. reminds me of my time at uni.. copying slabs of shit from journals and doing the same shit re.. results.. more time in the deli playing manila mate.. good times man.. good times.

Hi Everyone, as I haven't heard from BoxMatrix this year (who did a great job), we are looking for volunteer posters who would like to put their hand up to write previews of matches and as the first game is coming up pretty quickly looking to our expert and very knowledgeable posters on our board.

If you would like to offer, put your name down.

Alternatively if you can't do it every week, I can compile a roster and we can have different posters throughout the year to share the load.

Hopefully I am inundated with volunteers.:) If not, I am going to start naming names.

I'm pretty sure we had a similar situation last year but BoxMatrix turned up before round one, like clockwork.
