Help picking a Nba Team

Surely you’re joking?
Not one bit. Why do you support the team you go for? Cause you played them in NBA 2K12? It's hard to follow a team in a city that is on the opposite side of the world, that most Australians would have near zero connection/roots to. Understandable if you lived, worked or have a relative in a city over there, but most haven't. More easy to connect with a player then to a city. The moment Ben Simmons gets traded or signs elsewhere I'll go for that team.

Nope, spent a few years watching the NBA with no attachment to any team after not watching for quite a few years. For some reason found myself watching the bucks more than other teams so did a bit of research. Love the fact they’ve had players like Kareem, Big O and Ray Allen. Bogut was also drafted number 1 there. Love that they had the Mecca as their court during the 70s and 80s too. They had Delly and Thon (still do) on the team too. And obviously Giannis. I’ve now spent money on their merchandise, something I actually don’t do with the saints and will go watch a game at the new arena next year. But your theory is because I don’t live there I can’t have an attachment to them? It’s a team sport hence why I support a team. You live in Fremantle and go for Fremantle? Any other team in any other sport is a no go for you? You only support players?
P.s I don’t and have never lived in St.Kilda either.

Didn't say you can't have an attachment, just said it was hard. Different strokes for different blokes I guess.

End of the day I'm going to support Fremantle no matter what, even if by 2035 they haven't got back to playing finals. Can't say I'd still be rooting for the same NBA team if they were garbage for 20+ years.

Well then that’s just being a shit supporter, you gonna jump off supporting Ben if he stinks it up and gets traded 5 times in the next 6 years? The definition of a bandwagoner right there. Each to their own. #fearthedeer go the bucks!

Moving to Toronto next year, do you get to many games? I think I’ll be the only Australian Bucks fan in the whole city.

I try and go to 3-5 games a year, they're reasonably priced if you can catch them when they go on sale, even the resale market isn't too bad.

Toronto is a lot of fun, even in winter when it can be brutally cold the variety of bars, restaurants and people makes for consistent options.

Couldn’t think of anything worse than having to change teams multiple times personally

I have settled on the Knicks.
Obviously a shit team atm which appeals because i dont want to jump on a bandwagon ala GS, Celtics, Cavs, Miami, Lakers.
They have good young players and will get another good pick this year
They have cap space which could hopefully entice a big name like Durant.
I have a dutch background which if you read the history of the Knicks is why they are called the Knickerbockers.

I started following the NBA at the back end of last season because a colleague as so into it.

Started with the 76er's because of the Australian connection (Simmonds) and liked they way they played with their shooters (Reddick, Belleni, Elyasova). Obviously two of those guys left and so I started following Joe Ingles a bit more. I now watch maybe 1 in every 2/3 Jazz games which is alot more than any 76ers games I watched.

So i guess that makes me a Jazz fan with a soft spot for Philly. Jazz are a hard side to barrack for this year though. Very hot and cold. They do have a good young couple of players (Mitchell and Gobert), but they lack scorers. Plus they have two Aussies in Ingles and Exam so there's that too. Hope they make playoffs, but they can never seem to crawl past .500

Forget the Knicks, they've got nothing to offer bar the injured PorzinGod, though they seem likely to land KD and maybe Irving too.

Pick Denver Nuggets. Small franchise doing some nice things currently, sitting on top of the Wild West with the second youngest squad in the entire NBA. And we've been doing this whilst 3 of our starting 5 have been out for a few weeks now. We seem to match up very well against GSW (though conversely Houston flog us every time).

We also have the people's champ in the Joker (Nicola Jokic) - who is proving to the world that awkward dorky chubsters can ball out with the best of them. He's going to go down as the GOAT passing big man. Check this vid from over a year ago (he's done a lot more mind bending passes since then):

They at least have a decent young qb and have a better chance at building a winner than the Knicks
Knicks will be good next year. Knox promising, porzingis back, early pick and should get a free agent or two.

my advice would be to look at the home commentators. Sometimes I start quite liking a team and then watch a home game on League Pass and realise the home commentators are unbearable.

Like once I was quite warming up to Utah, but then in a game the commentator said 'dunk you very much' after an alley oop.

I can't put up with that kind of crap ...
