I've got a severe case of writer's block for a report I'm working on. I just cannot get moving. If anyone could take the time to offer a few opinions I'd really appreciate it.

1 Do you have a footy membership. (Either club or AFL)

2 What made you decide to become a member,(eg what age were you, how many years support before signing up, etc)

3 What are your thoughts on supporters who are not members?

4 The Kangaroos are presently working on a strategy where they aim to form an alliance with a club from every league in the country. This is to develop support out of the future footy generation. As a child & playing junior footy for your local club, do you think this strategy would lead you to barrack for the AFL club that either wore the similar jumper or was named the same?

Thanks for your time

1 -Yes I have a Geelong AFL club support membership

2 -I became a member in 1988 because I started going to AFL games a lot more than I use too.

3 -All supporters should be members if they can afford it.

4 - No

1. Roos membership, Pagan's Patrons.
2. Started attending games regularly from mid-1989, so I got a membership in 1991 (when I was about 15), and have been a member since. Barracked for the club as a kid from 1981, but never had anyone to go with, so only saw a couple of games before 1989.
3. Every supporter should be a member if it's affordable.
4. Maybe younger kids in the under 9's, who may not have an allegiance as yet, might be swayed by club colours/emblems.

Good luck with the project... thought you were just a little beyond school age though, 35eye!

I've spent the last 12 years in year 10. I'll pass one day & they'll put me up. Anyway Darky, you should be studying right now instead of sitting on the internet, you slacker!

Yes I have a Bombers bronze m/ship, plus & WA Bombers m/ship & Roos M/ship but that doesn't count, lol.
I lived in Ringwood which was a Bombers zone, so naturally went for the Bombers.Joined at 15.
I think everyone who can afford it should be a memmber, whether they can attend the matches or not.
No, our local league North Ringwood wear the Saints Guernsey, no way we would I barrack for them. Sorry Saints supporters.

Thanks Sandie, but just because you lived in the Bombers zone, why did that grab you? I grew up in the south east also. Most of my friends followed the Bombers for the same reason so I know what track you're on, but I can't fully understand why. Couldn't you could have gone for the Saints before you were old enough to develop any predjudice?

1 Roos Pagan's Patron

2 I started taking intrest in footy when i was about 13 and picked North Melbourne because my uncle has been a one-eyed roos fan all his life. went to about 3 games one year and then decided to become members the next year - successfully converting my parents and sister!

3 If they can afford it they should be members

4 unsure (sorry - couldn't decide)

hope that helped,
leia.

1) Yes. Fremantle club membership. Although it is commonly called a ticket to the looney bin.

2) I go to most, if not all games, so its cheaper. I have been a member since the clubs inception, prior to that I was an East Fremantle supporter. Why I was that i'm not entirely sure, although I did play junior football in the East zone.

3) Depends on their circumstances. If they either live too far away, can't afford it, just can't get to games or locked away in a mental hospital due to watching too many Dockers games then I can't blame them for not becoming a member. If it's simply because they don't follow the team because they're not winning, then they're hardly a true supporter are they?

4) Depends how its done. If the club genuinely supports the lower level club then it may work (Such as providing jumpers/balls, conducting clinics for both players and coaches etc). But given they can't pay their players, I would doubt they would do much other than send a quarterly newsletter, in which case it would be a complete waste of money. Clubs gain support from the area in which they are based. If they continue to neglect their Melbourne market and refuse to embace a new one then they will struggle to gain fans from anywhere, and lose them from Melbourne. If you're going to relocate, then stop ****ing around with your fans and actually do it.

1) Yes I have a Collingwood 18 games season ticket membership aswell as an Collingwood AFL club support membership. And a Chher Squad membership with the pies.

2)I have had my AFL one every since the Great Southern Stand opened. My mum and Dad put all my family's down on the list.

My Season ticket was my choice, becuase I wanted to sit behind the goals with my mates and my AFL membership wouldnt let me.

3)The should sing up and support the team.

4) not sure Sorry

I hope that this helps u with the assingment.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply but wow man, chill out. I'm not going anywhere & I'm certainly not feeling neglected. My club loves me so much that they built a statue out the front & put my name on it. Woo-hoo!
