I got a CD burner last week and I have been told that to make an audio CD from mp3's you need to change them into .wav files to listen to it on your CD player.

Does anyone know of any programs which I could download to do this?

alot of people seem to think that but i've never ever had to do that. All CD burners i have used, i've been able to burn them as audio cd's without changing from mp3 format.

are you sure you have to??

try burning a CD without changing the format from mp3 to .wav files and if it works, then its all sweet. If it doesn't , i really dont know what programs you would use because i never have had the need to.

I tried it yesterday. The CD player just came up with "no".

Someone told me that only the fairly new CD players can do it...but mine is pretty new. So I'm a bit confused

Thanks for that.

I read on my Nero program that it isn't best to use CD-RW ones, which is the kind I was using to test it. So I've burned my mp3's (still being in that format) onto a normal one so hopefully it should work this time. The problem is I have to wait a while to test it as my CD player isn't working at the moment. So fingers crossed.

Why not test the CD after burning it by playing it through the CD drive of your computer.:)

yes... its quite simple if u already have Nero... (which is what i use all the time)...

when it starts up.. select 'Audio CD'...
simply drag and drop the mp3 files u want...
watch the bar at the bottom, so that it goes up to 74mins or 80mins... 'write CD'.. and thats it...

You could also try one of the media players that enables CD burning. I use Realone, which has a CD burning function that very easy to use and can be downloaded for free

I also have nero but I find it much easier to create music CDs from MP3 using realone.

Use Nero. The wav files aren't actually the format on the audio cd, rather the defualt format the computer uses before it turns it into an actual CD track. ;)

Bingo. Some burning programs like Nero (if you select the 'Audio CD' option) are smart, and know how to automatically convert mp3 to wav and then to audio data without you doing a damn thing. Just depends on the software you use.
