Definitely see an easier transition via the backline for Hendo. Same for Yazzle dazzle.

Would like to see Hendo stay at CHB for an entire season or 2 to just build his confidence up and prove to himself (and us) that he is AFL class. He is def going the right way about it and shows decent signs...wont say great signs but def decent signs. Add to that, he is def a person who prepares himself the right way and follows team rules...can't fault that :thumbsu:

Once he is fully up and running in another 1-2 seasons, then move him back forward when he has a bit more swagger/size about him.

Keep at it Hendo! He is a classic case of trusting the club to develop him the right way. Hopefully they get it right.

this question has already been asked, byt cbf looking through all these posts.
But my question is: Would Hendo still Play back once Jamo comes back in?

God I hope so, his body positioning needs work, his timing on when to play in front needs work but hell when he gets the ball and takes a run out of the back line it usually ends up in a goal, great decision maker and usually hits a target, a real CHB prospect IMO.

Can't fault that, was pretty much going to post the same thing.

Needs to learn to play infront because he has the speed to match it with a lot of forwards but he often gets caught behind. When this happens he is generally right with them step for step but if the ball is delivered well, he is just caught out.

Plenty to work with and he will benefit greatly from having Jamo back to take the best forward.

I totally agree too.
Jamo at full back and Hendo at half back. All of a sudden we have a nice mix of tall and short in our backline!!
Our forward line is potent enough with Waite, Walker, Jeff, Walker, Eddie and Kreuzer pushing forward!!!

Two Walker's? That's a lot of x factor.

Anybody think that with hampson recovering, there is scope to play him as a permanent FF, with Waite as CHF? I'm undecided but think it has potential to work

I love the way Hendo backs himself when he recovers the ball from the ground in defence and takes the game on. He has good recovery once he spoils the ball. He looks so much more comfortable in defence. I thought his job on Hurley was really good when he was on him. When Thornton was on him Hurley looked like marking every ball that came his way. He really strengthens our defence and once Jammo comes back I think our defence will be one of the most solid in the competition.

I think he and warnock are destined to fight it out and replace each other as injury or exhaustion demands. That said if he keeps playing the way he was just before he was hurt, theres no reason he couldnt be a permanent full forward.

Was unsure if he could but when I saw him first hand take that hangar on the lead at full tilt against brisbane I thought he could be anything, he has the athleticism, his skills below his knees have improved out of sight, give him a full pre-season IMO.

Question is could you play 206, Krueze and Hammer in the one side??

IMO Krueze to CHF, Hammer FF, Waite rotating F/Pocket and Wing and 206 Ruck I think K & H are both mobile enough to play in the one side and K is smart enough to give H room.

Similar to the Cloke, Dawes, Brown combo with Jolley in the Ruck.

Backed himself every time, did not look out of place down back.

Did very well. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

When 40 comes back, would love to see him chb.

That will be huge for Hendo, he'd be able to take the 2nd tall and run and create more. His disposal has been outstanding since moving down back, especially his field kicking.

He's a 21 year old kid, first round pick, running around in open company.

Getting comfortable with the pace of the game now.

Fantastic performance tonight from Hendo. Really took the game on and i think had the better of Petrie overall. His drive out of defence was great.

He looks very comfortable back there.

Please MC, leave him at CHB when Jamo comes back. Hendo's in good form and obviously is very confident. We need to keep that going into next year.

First time I've thought defence might be his go long term.

I doubted whether he offered as much down back as a shutdown defender as he does up forward, however I didn't forsee how confident he'd be with ball in hand. His run from defence has been really quite impressive, confident enough to take his man on but also composed and accurate by foot.

Keep him there, at least in the short term.

Thought he was outstanding tonight. Clearly beat Petrie IMO which is not an easy task given the form he has been in this season.

Reads the play exceptionally well and takes his opponent on. You can just see his confidence rising with each and every game in the backline. His disposal has been very clean as well.

What he really needs to work on is his strength. As I said, he reads the play very well but when it comes to one-on-one contests he's brushed aside too easily by his direct opponent. However this is no real cause for concern as he is still very young and will continue to grow and gain strength.

I still believe Hendo will be our first choice CHF in time but for the time being we must persist with him down back. Right now he's taking the opposition's number 1 forward which he is not ready for but is battling wonderfully. Once Jamo comes back, as many have mentioned, he'll be afforded the 'luxury' of a 2nd tall forward which may well suit him down to a tee.

Well done to Hendo for his form and the MC for persisting with him as a defender for now. Doing very well back there which is a huge positive. How long he lasts down there is the big unknown but for now he looks comfortable, confident and he's beginning to thrive.

Well done Hendo! :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Was one of our best tonight and got the better of Petrie for the most part of it. Like others have said looks to be growing in confidence every week down there.

I'd say even when Jamo comes back we leave him down there at least for the rest of the year.

Hendo was bloody magnificent. Seriously - thought this guy had melted in the off season and injury had just clarified his butter - so, so, so wrong.

If you put Hendo's stunning performances last year (not withstanding his disappearing acts) together with is backline performances - then combine them with tonight - i reckon this guy could be a lot more than we think.

He fills the perfect footy player role, Gibbs, Mitch, the HEDON, tall agressive, athletic capable player.

He was attacking out of the backline, ran the ball, bounced, really went for the ball and not just the man - and this is the KEY from defence (thats for the kids) - Yarran is poweful because he is not defensive from defence - as is Henderson.

I feel that henderson is ALREADY more important that Jamieson - will put that in a new thread if anyone wants to come back in three years - but if hendo holds down his spot -

The googie egg thing about the blues is that we can swing thornton in to the forward line, we have to be able to do this with hendo.

Bringing Gibbs up forward tonight, thornton, hendo, waite, (Jamison) is going to give Malthouse the runs for weeks - this is what footy is all about today - and im so proud the blues are playing all over the ground footy - long gone are the days when we look for fevola !!1
