I was at the game today, and can't believe the lack of knowledge a large number of our supporters have about the game of football. Prior to half time Lachie Henderson was receiving the bronx cheers from the majority of Carlton people at the game. The kid is 20 years of age and was presenting to the right spots. Unfortunately for him he couldn't get them to stick initially, however as the game wore on he got better and was our only forward for the day. The same people that were jeering him in the first half were then praising his efforts in the 2nd half. I HATE FICKLE and DUMB supporters.

For one thing they expect far too much. He presented well gave us am option and could have easily kicked 5 if he had taken his opportunities. He will continue to improve and I am very confident that he will be a top line player.

I was so ****ing happy when he took that pack mark and slotted the goal. All the ****wits in the area bagging him the whole first half suddenly shut up. I agree with blues4flag when he said that the anger over the loss pales in comparison to how furious I was over the treatment this 20 year old kid was receiving by so called 'supporters'.

Lachie was pretty sketchy in the first half, but did pretty well in the second. I just wish he'd lead a lot more than he does, perhaps his fitness still isn't there for a CHF but the signs are promising.

Does anyone else think that he may be too rigid (especially through the arms) when having a set-shot at goal. I reckon he needs to relax his arms a bit, allowing for a better ball-drop and a more fluid kicking motion.

Thats the key part of the whole story with Hendo... he will develop into a star for us OVER TIME.

He is 20 or 21 years old, played less than 50 games, and people are expecting him to come into the side and automatically replace Fevola. Was never going to happen!

Yes - and what has been described in the opening post is just the attitude of those particular BF posters, but demonstrated on a much larger scale.

Was one of the few positives from today...
At 20 years old and a KPP he will be in and out of the side for a couple of years...Part and parcel of a young big bloke...

BUT....
He presents really well, runs straight at the ball and his hands are improving!

Think in the long run he will deliver, has the tools to do so...Up to him and the club to develope those talents.

Thought he was properly excellent today. Ran hard, took a couple of great contested grabs, was in the right spots. We cannot ask for more from a KP in his third year...and it's not even fair to judge him on that bassi - this is the first year he's had a settled position up front.

I think in general he appears like a fairly nervous sort of guy at this stage (with all the pressure on him..not surprised actually!), you could see it early on especially but as we saw as the game went on, his confidence grows and his talent is evident.

More game time the better IMO, he'll be fine.

Henderson came to Carlton with a hot spot in his foot, so he spent a lot of the pre-season in the rehab group. Will only get fitter in coming years once he's fully fit and truly fills out his 196 cm frame.

Just look at how long it took Kennedy to develop.

Even Murphy looked a bit lethargic after having surgery in the pre-season.

Huge upside because his beep tests and repeat sprints are rated as elite for KPP.

Runs a 14 beep like Kreuzer who is a running machine, but needs to develop Matty's endurance.

Hendo's going to be an awesome player for us. Reminds me a lot of JK at the same age, but better. Presents all day, perfect CHF build, and hits packs hard. He's a very talented footballer, learning the difficult CHF craft. Great to see him take his opportunity with Waite out. With his talent, and work rate, it was only a matter of time before some form returned.

Interesting to note just prior to half time Tim Watson making the call that Hendo had been our most effective forward (from what I have seen on the Fox Sports replay, he was right). This was prior to his 3 goal third quarter, so I'm not sure what the Hendo knockers are on about. Looks to me like a case of some our negative nellies wanting to make Hendo one of their whipping boys, in the process demonstrating their limited knowledge of what is actually happening on the field.

Certainly got the talent, maybe not the muscle, but get 50 games into him quicksmart and we've got something here.

His second half was better than i've seen him play all year, and I think he'll be a good player. However I think that he isn't ready to play in the AFL yet, his kicking skills aren't up to scratch and he still continues to drop simple chest marks. His misses in the 1st quarter cost us any momentum we built up, I think when Waite is back, he'll need to go back into the VFL to gain a bit more confidence.

Took everything inside me not to get up and blast this guy, Hendo will come good as many people have said he is a 20 year old kid, with 15 afl games prior to this year and now 7 with us.
I remember Kennedy being alot like him (mind you i still wish we had Kennedy, i remember when we drafted him saying he will be the next sticks) and look at Kennedy he is looking great

Give Hendo a few good pre seasons and alot of these "supporters" will be eating there words.

Hendo's mark over Brown in the early stages of the 3rd quarter brought back memories of how Sticks used to pluck marks over the top of opponents.

^ King Kreuzer took one exactly like that against Port Adelaide over Fev a few years back.
