I sit on level 2 at the dome in the members area and i had a idiot behind me yelling out all game
"We gave away Fev for you Henderson you are a dud"

Took everything inside me not to get up and blast this guy, Hendo will come good as many people have said he is a 20 year old kid, with 15 afl games prior to this year and now 7 with us.

Give Hendo a few good pre seasons and alot of these "supporters" will be eating there words.
What a moronic thing to say - I thought Henderson showed some great signs today and played pretty well especially in the second half.

Unfortunately, some supporters expect instant results irrespective of the age/experience of the players they're bagging. You only have to look at the teams that have been the real benchmark over the past couple of years - Geelong and StKilda. How old and experienced are their gun KPFs - certainly older than 20 yrs and more experience than 22 games ffs.

imo I think Henderson is showing more than JK at the same age and will be a great KPF for the club.

Is he related to Kent Dorfman "Fat, Drunk and Stupid".

We actually got Lucas (pick 12) and Henderson - for Fev.

Basically 2 ten year players for a forward that might have 3 more years in him and who was a cancer in the club.

This drop kick is obviously one of the 11,000 members who did not renew this year - but will be one one of the whingers in the next few years complaining what a disgrace it is that he has been a Carlton Supporter for 30 years but couldnt buy a Grand Final ticket.

I too couldn't understand the negativity towards the kid early on.
I was in the medallion club and guy called out in the 1st quarter mind you, "go back to preston Hendo and stay there, that's where you belong". I gave him the dirtiest look imaginable .... then in the 3rd, I turned around and smiled at him. That is all I needed to do.

I only saw the first half, but I thought Henderson was pretty good...and yeah, Bruce and Dennis seem to have a liking for seeing him fail, imo...
even bloody Bruce McAveney was saying things like 'this is a career defining kick for the kid'
I mean, if anyone's a failure it's a commentator who wants to try and define someone else's young career by the execution of a difficult skill on one occasion...give the young bloke a chance...

even bloody Bruce McAveney was saying things like 'this is a career defining kick for the kid'. Seriously WTF.

McAveney's a tool. He's a useless commentator filling in time before the next Olympics when his input may actually be slightly interesting.

Any commentator who describes a player as delicious shouldn't be commentating afl.

Lachie showed a lot today and the ********s in the crowd annoyed the shit out of me. They're worse than the Hawthorn fans. Kennedy used to be exactly like Lachie. He'd get to the right spot and **** up the simple mark. I bet all these so called supporters would love to have JK back. Lachie will get there.

It's really disappointing hearing Carlton supporters sarcastically cheer when Lachie takes a mark.

Nobody with half a brain expected him to have a significant impact straight up and if you did then get serious!

I was listening to him on Triple M on the way home from today's game and the kid is impressive.

He will probably be in and out of the team a bit but good to see him make the most of his chance today with Waite out and Irish having a quiet one.

I hate to say it, Brucey but I think you're career is defined by the time you said Hampson was a magnificent specimen...I mean at least, Henderson can stand up to the rigours of AFL...you're way out of bounds on the full on this one, Bruce...Henderson is gonna be very good...

Huge pressure on Henderson after being involved in the Fevola trade.

I think he is handling it very well and will be a very good player.

Prefer him in the forward line with our crumbers rather than OHailpin. Despite his good start to the season (and I keep saying it) I dont think Ohailpin is our answer up forward.

this boy just needs time, forget those tossbag supporters! his work ethic is great he moves to the right spots its just a time thing! im not phased if he plays ones or twos as long as he keeps his head up he will make it easily at this level!

I was at the game today, and can't believe the lack of knowledge a large number of our supporters have about the game of football. Prior to half time Lachie Henderson was receiving the bronx cheers from the majority of Carlton people at the game. The kid is 20 years of age and was presenting to the right spots. Unfortunately for him he couldn't get them to stick initially, however as the game wore on he got better and was our only forward for the day. The same people that were jeering him in the first half were then praising his efforts in the 2nd half. I HATE FICKLE and DUMB supporters.

I was at the game today and totally agree. It was pathetic the bronx cheers. The kid is 20 years old and played 20 games. What do these feral supporters expect. KPP take time to develop and I thought he was real positive today and will be 10 year CHF for Carlton.

Just watching the replay and even bloody Bruce McAveney was saying things like 'this is a career defining kick for the kid'. Seriously WTF. Hendo is doing all the right things at the moment and I personally look forward to watching him develop.
Keep up the effort Hendo and it'll happen for you.

Once upon a time I liked Bruce & Denis but now all they do is try and outdo one another with cheesey one liners and talk off-topic. In the 3rd quarter they were particularly painful and talking stats whilst some important play was going on. I can honestly say that the commentary annoyed me more than the Hawthorn supporters I was watching the game with giving me crap.

Channel Seven are so crap now that I'd even prefer Eddie McGuire calling it again.

Continues to show he is better than Kennedy at the same age. Not sure what these "fans" thought Fevola was doing at age 20, but it wasn't putting in the sorts of effort that Hendo was.

Very happy for Hendo. :thumbsu:

Fev kicked 12 goals in a game when he was 18. Though it was only the millenium game and not during the season. Lol. He went on to kick 26 goals for the 2000 seaon, though he was dropped for a period there.

But yes Hendo needs some time to bulk up and find his rythm. Just hope it's sooner rather than later. Hopefully the 3 he kicked against the Hawks can give him a bit more confidence, though he did have a forgetful first quarter.

There are Carlton supporters out there that seriously need their arse's removed.

I have always been a fan of Hendo and have no doubt he will be a true CHF in time. He gets to the right space all the time and just needs to start holding his marks and he will be kicking 3 to 5 goals a game.

Very proud of Lachie, redeemed himself with a magnificent set shot after a forgettable first half.. He's such an asset to out team being able to swing back when we need it (which is starting to be a pre requisite to get into our forward line; waite, setant included). I can't wait until he develops into the superstar we know he will be. Patience is the key

Exactly. He leads well and always seem to get front position. Gets his hands to the footy but drops more than he should at the moment, though not unexpected given his age/experience. What he did do was contest every time and bring the ball to ground if he didn't mark it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't recall him being outmarked once or giving up on a contest.

Might be shot down for this but the way he moves and leads reminds me a lot of Jonathan Brown. He lacks Brown's intensity but hopefully he'll improve on that with confidence/experience and a bit of strength. I thought his game yesterday showed a ton of promise.
