Hope it comes with more experience but he's got to start to think of himself as 'The Man'.

His job - go back and slot the goal. He may have got it- he may have missed but its now his job to go back and take the shot.
 
He's been great the last few weeks, just wish he hadn't have chosen today wear his butter gloves again. He is very much a confidence player.

It was strange because he was holding some really tough marks and then dropping some easy ones. He is certainly improving and that's all we can ask. I am a huge fan.

One thing that I do think would improve his game drastically is his body positioning I'm marking contests. He tends to just jump at the ball with using body work to free himself up. He needs to use his body to push off and get that space to make a potential contested mark into an easy uncontested mark. This will obviously come with a few more pre seasons but he should be working on that with Sticks.
 
Got part one right getting to the right position. Got part two wrong dropping everything contributing big time to our loss.

But getting part one right, part two will come. He'll he a good player for us even if i swore at him very often today.

Spot on. I've said it over and over that I don't care if ANY of our players have a shot and miss, just as long as they start having a shot. They will eventually start nailing them. There was no clear advantage in the square and he should have taken his kick. I have been very happy with Hendo this year but today I must admit I was frustrated and disappointed with his game. Hopefully with another preseason he'll bulk up a bit more an start to hold those marks. His kicking is pretty good now.

Struggles to kick 50 .

Agree. I'm a big fan of Hendo who at 20 yo will only get better as he gets stronger and more games under his belt.
 
I don't mind him dropping marks because I see the anger in his face when he does it. He's the type of guy that will relentlessly work away at it. Good stuff Lachie!

You know what- i am shattered tonight but i a have been rapt with Hendo the last few weeks. He has performed above expectations this year for a 20 year old KPP and he is going to give us something to look forward to for next year.

Time for a beer- what do reckon?
 
Love Hendo. Will only get better. What he must realise is, like it or not, he is our power forward, power forwards go back and have a crack. He looks around too much when he marks only 40 out and I know he can kick it long. This will only improve. Great year, wouldn't swap him back for Fev.
 
Signs have been good lately but his marking is a real worry. Missed so many crucial and easy marks today that would have basically won us the game. Really needs to work on this in the off season !

He's kicked 10 goals in his last 4 games. Has come a very long way over the course of the season even if he did drop marks which he should have taken...included one in the last which might have sealed the game.

Ah well. Life goes on. If Garlett had kicked the goal at the end I reckon we'd be lauding Hendo. Garlett had time to steady and kick it on his preferred but the pressure of the situation got to him. Henderson from 55 would have been no sure thing.

Still love the guy and will be a star for years to come. :thumbsu:
 
I dont agree with him going back and taking that shot on the 50, if Garlett kicks that goal its a great play, if he misses people ask if he shouldve given it to the running goal sneak to have a shot from 40 meters

Love what hes done, been a great year which he exceeded all expectations

Got a great body, great kick and we know he can mark he just has the yips

Look forward to his future

you were not alone !!! he cost us the game today, but at least he is still learning. what is waites excuse !!!??? he still has brain -fades, and should have made sure of that goal, instead of trying to kick the cover off it. thought eddie betts let us down, again!!! it is one thing to get beaten by a better team but carlton beat themselves today by fumbling the ball when they had the chance to bury the swans. how come henderson gets his hands to so many marks and lets the ball slide down his body like that !!!??? he moves well to the ball, and sort of gets stage fright when the ball hits his hands. kernahan should spend all summer with that kid, get in his head and show him how to use his body in contests at the ball. sticks was`nt fast, but was such a great reader of the ball that he continually got to the fall of the ball. the kid will be great, but like someone else said "tell him he`s the man ". i thought ratten erred in playing ellard today, big time. an 80 year old pensioner could run faster than him !!!!!!! he keeps getting caught all the time. i don`t care what others think of my comments,.....but we went out the same way last year and it p---es me off that we should have won both games but WE BLEW THEM BOTH!!! i feel sorry for juddy playing his guts out to get the ball so often, only to see his team mates let him down !!! ( i know he missed a goal as well,but he was`nt alone ) we have got something to build on, so i hope we do get players to cover our weaknesses and improve for 2011:mad:
 
Hendo's been fantastic this year, with what he has shown so far i would of taken a straight swap with him and Fev and to think we got Lucas as well.......great trade for us.

At just 20 he has a big engine and once he starts holding those marks he will be massive for us, he dropped some marks yesterday but the whole side had good and bad moments.

Comment I heard on SEN this morning from Huddo was that Dermie was saying after teh gane yesterday that Hendo should have been rested or rotated off as in the last quarter he was gone.

Stated you could see he was working hard to get to the right position but was just too tired to hold his ground and the mark.


My thoughts are that the good sign is he is getting to the right positions so is reading the play well - something that is hard to teach.


What's not in doubt is that he is a quality human being of great character. He will go back over the summer and work hard.

We forget he also had an interrupted pre-season so fingers crossed he can hit the ground running next year and develop the big tank he needs to go to the next level.
