The AFC have made some weak decisions but the Gunston trade wasn't one of them. Moving on quickly from that trade was in our best interest.

Hendo was great as the rebounding backman this year, had good possession numbers and his run and penetrating kick caught the opposition out a number of times. He is the logical replacement for Reilly, who should be considered handy backup player now. If Hendo was played there consistently for a season, he would get consistently high possession count, and make an impact on many games, and could occasionally kick the long goal on the run.
Don't underestimate this guy's speed, and ability to read the ball in the air. Next year he will be in our top 8 best players at Club champion. Time to reap the rewards!

Hendo has far more chance of burning off a defensive forward than reilly.
He's an 80m player typically compared to reillys 50.

Love him at half back. Like a point guard, which he used to be from memory, he gets to see the play on front of him and call the shots.

Will be very damaging whoever he plays for over the next 5 years.
Or very damaged. That's the risk.

So you don't rate Grigg and would prefer him playing for another team.

You know if you had an opposition team in your profile you'd have been infracted as a troll ages ago. You are pushing some sort of barrow and continually post bullshit trolls.

meh, i'll let your little "you speak up against the AFC spin so you must be a troll" whine go through to the slips. As for Grigg, has a hell a lot of promise but a key forward who stands up in a GF and is probably top 3 Norm Smith possibility is worth gold. Another who spent too long in the SANFL and then surprisingly wanted out.

Excellent plan. Instead of getting Kerridge, Grigg and Jenkins we should have gotten nothing instead.

But we sure would have had the last laugh when he went to Melbourne! Unless of course he priced himself out of the market and ended up at Hawthorn anyway, while allowing them to use pick 24 to select an extra player.

It's far too easy to say "we have to win every single situation or else we're a weak club", but it doesn't work that way in reality.

You forget Crouch, wasn't Crouch part of the Gunston trade too? Should have received a top 16 draft pick for a talent like Gunstons.

AFC had little option but to trade Gunston to the Hawks as he had walked out of the club.

In the circumstances they did well to get some decent picks that landed both Kerridge & Grigg.

Compare this to what we got for the other players in the original quote, AFC did OK.

Certainly far from AFC worse or "ridiculous" trade, particularly when Hawks had the upper hand.

Sorry Kane we actually had the upper hand in this trade. If both Hawthorn and Gunston wanted each other than we had the option of the pre-season draft (and the threat of Melbourne) to make sure we actually came out in front.

When PAPs repeat what you post on the bay almost word for word it is a clear signal that you are full of shit.

You don't speak up against the AFC when they have done wrong. You spin everything they do as wrong. You take situations were they have had good outcomes and make shit up (like Bay 13 PAPs) to make it sound like the AFC has stuffed up. This time (as usual) you have stretched the cord too far and pulled the plug. No one believes you, but you are enjoying the attention you have created.

Meanwhile back at the Hendo problem. I hope he stays on the list. The prospect of losing him for a 2nd rounder that we then on-trade to Brisbane for Polec fills me with horror. Massive overs for Polec in that case.

Clearly a PAP troll

I'm very keen in Polec who fills a whole in an area of need but would be disappointed if we lost Hendo has a result. We need both IMO. One in defence and one on the wing. Losing Hendo also probably means Reilly gets back his spot back in defence and I cringe at the thought of that! Yes, Henderson might get tagged out of it next year too but at least he's quick and agile so he'd have a greater chance of shaking the tag than Reilly.

Hendo i would love to see on a wing ......speed, long kick and tall makers him a weapon on a wing

The idea of picking up Polec and losing Hendo ......not sure where we have gained in that scenario

Hendo has played plenty of games in his time at the club on a wing

In the blue corner we've got

Posters who spin every single club decision as incorrect, and poor outcomes are examples of our incompetence

And in the red corner we've got

Posters who spin every single club decision as correct, and poor outcomes are just events and bad luck conspiring against us

And then we've got

Posters who can't understand the rules on the goal kicking game

When three tribes go to war, an infraction point is all you can score...

Presuming all of that happened Mike, how would getting nothing for him actually have helped us though??

All Gunston had to do was have a front end loaded agreement with Hawthorn and he would have got through to Hawthorn IMO.

Hendo is Expendo at the right price. We developed him from nothing and now have a tradeable asset. Unfortunately I believe not many Hendo types play in winning premiership teams. His one on one work is sub par.

I have a theory that the first time he drove to training at Elizabeth he rang his mum and said he was coming home.

how about the mummy's boy who nearly won the Norm Smith?

Hendo's mum is a single parent, it's family reasons re his brother that is his concern, obviously that can't be discussed in this forum as that really is none of our business.
