Disagree.

If Fletcher goes down, Henno is a greater chance of stopping a tall forward than Bolton. Someone like Neitz, Henno is a much better chance.

I'm not defending his position on the list, we should chop him. But he's a better option for key-back depth than Bolts. Henno has actually played some decent footy back there, it was just too long ago for anyone to really remember, or for it to count.

Both should go.

Bolton is a better player (better, but still very average)...neither are good defenders. If we hadn't traded Solomon & pick 52 for pick 42 & 47, the "need" for Bolts & Henno as backup defenders would be eliminated. I'm really starting to miss Solly.

I think Henno cops a bit much. The one time he was fit (and not played in the ruck) he was actually OK. Did his job. Don't think he's close to our best 22 but my memory is usually pretty good and i can't remember him proving himself as the hack people keep going on about.

The decision has logic written all over it, except for the fact that Henneman is being kept in the belief that he will actually make a difference next season....

Well, most of our talls are quite young, so retaining Bolts and Henneman would only act as insurance while these kids continue to develop..

No wonder other teams bag us...be deserve it if the club keeps making stupid decisions like this. 95% members and supporters think Bolton & Hennaman are crap and should have been gone years ago but somehow they are finding it hard to get rid of them. The only thing that could top it off is if we pick up Jason Cloke in the PSD then I won't be happy at all!

Why don't we just delist him. Then if there is noone better in the PSD then we can just re-draft him. With Ackland going to Carlton we effectively have the 1st live pick so we don't have to be worried about other clubs trying to steal him....

(IMO I think using pick 68 is a better plan... could still be some good finds around here):thumbsu:

Hmmmm...Henneman VS Bolton...tough decision...

Hmmmm...be kicked in the testicles VS have my head dunked in a dirty toilet...also a tough decision...

Dear JEX,

I have the right to say what ever i f-cking want about Aaron "Not up to AFL standard" Henneman. I have followed this club for 30 years and f-cked if im gunna stand for any sub-standed,mediocre player f-cking up our chances of getting towards a finals place in 2007 or God forbid, 2008.

You can say what ever you want in response but you're wasting your time with retorts of aggression. Nothing will change my mind on the subject of average, uninspiring players who play year in year out with nothing but mediocre performances.I don't want them at my club.

I'm in it for Premiership Cups.Thats it,the ultimate footy prize. And I'll f-cking well bear my @rse hole in the middle of F-cking Subiaco Oval if you can prove to me,that Henneman is going to be part of any premiership at the EFC in the near future.

He's a dud,this is a public forum,I can say what ever i f-cking well want mate!

Thank you for Your Understanding,

Lets wait and see what happens first.

In the case of Henneman and Bolton, the overwhelming question the club (and its supporters) need to ask is -
"Are there better players out there?"

Also need to consider any salary cap issues, how that player would fit into the club and any positional needs/requirements.
In the case of both, the replacement recruit would need to be at least a 15% upgrade on either player.

Looking at the PSD there doesn't seem to be anyine out there.

As far as the National Draft is concerned taking picks from 50 and above is generally a waste of time. Sure, one player in 20 might play 50 games but the overwhelming majority are delisted after two seasons.

We saw this with Lucy, Richmond saw it the other day with Dean Limbach and I'm sure there will be many more to be culled in the upcoming weeks.

As an example, from the 2004 draft here are the picks 50-60.
Attard, Eckermann, Limbach, Taylor, Tiller, Iacobucci, Knights, Brad Smith, Moran, Copping.

So lets not get carried away.
After all, would any of us want to get rid of something of value (no matter how small) and get nothing in return.

In my opinion Bolton and Henneman (to a lesser extent) still offer more value than any player in the PSD or a draft pick from 50 plus.

Seriously Nobby you have taken it way too far mate, with this post and the one before. Everyone knows Henno is not up to AFL standard, and not even close. No-one is denying it. Hell, even Henneman himself would know it.
There is not a single good enough reason to hang onto this sub -standard
d-ckwad.

And if your reading this Henno,( highly unlikely) STIFF! I don't feel bad at all.

Have a bit of class mate. It's disappointing that he's being kept on but there's better ways to go about it than that.

You do have the right to say what ever you want, it is a public forum, and it gives people the right to say whatever they want back.

You've supported this club for 30 years as you so elegantly put, why don't you treat its players with some respect. One, it's not his decision that he is being kept on, so why the personal comments? And two, he is someone who's given his all for the club, a lot more than you have. He's by no means good enough, I am not disputing that at all, but he's contributed a lot more than you and a lot of people ever will to Essendon.

You're better than that.

Henno staying is only basically saying if we can't find anyone in the pre season draft, can my eight year old cousing nominate so sheedy can pick him over henno!!

No offence to hennomen, probably tries hard but it's a disgrace he can be kept on a list for so long when there's plenty of other, better players who never get the chance. If we are really that desperate why dont we pick up some gun country footballer aged 24-27 who never got given a chance at afl. Least it's a feel good story, not dud kept on list for another year. Henno on list is probably a far indication of where we are headed so who we are going to pick up with no/1 pick 2008.

He's probably a good bloke, so no need for personal insults but sorry buddy you are NOT afl standard, dont belong there.

The best thing about someone writing this is that now I hope it wont come true. Barnsey3150 you have mine and just about everyone's sentiments exactly. :thumbsu:

Still worried that we may end up with Cloke and that is a real worry (they will say to cover loss of solomon) we dont need him or one of henno or bolts.

Give Lee the chance to stand up :)

It's funny you know. Whilst Aaron doesnt deserve a spot on the list... people are personally abusing the bloke. Do you really think he is asking to be put on the list? No, I dont believe so. The club makes the decision not him.

Blame the club, not the player.

For a hack of a player to be on an AFL LIST for EIGHT YEARS and done NOTHING is A DISGRACE! Either NOT GOOD ENOUGH for a senior game or INJURED should have sent alarm bells ringing at the club 3 years ago! PISS OFF HENNOHACK.................

Relax- Sheedy and Dudoro have all the right moves. Dean Wallis was very maligned for much of his 14 year career but came good in the end. Henno's not even half way there, just needs some more nurturing and faith.

at least theres no talk of getting Reynolds back
