What do you folks think. He's got good size and athleticism.
Seems to be composed with ball in hand and is a pretty reliable kick.

We don't have many options in defense at the moment. Blicavs and Kolodjashnij would be our main key defender's. It could see the club give an opportunity to Nathan Kreuger and Sam De Koning while unlocking a potential midfield star in Henry.

I firmly believe Henry should play midfield - could be the next Fyffe. The few time sI've seen him up the ground I;ve been impressed. the Clark/Henry goal was our best of the season.

No Jack isn't a mid, best asset is his marking if anything a 3rd tall in the forward line

He provided relief in the ruck a few times early in the 2021 season and really got amongst it.

I like him as a defender though, overall.

As for the defense, I want De Koning getting games next year; 10+ ready or not.
And Krueger's hitting the road isn't he?

nope.

Dont mind the idea of lateral thinking...

But no. We will be weakest in the MF and i get wanting to make it better.... but lets do that by developing players rather than robbing peter to to pay paul.

Will also be our best defender in the very near future if he isn't halfway there already.

Unfortunately Krueger is the big unit with the athletisism to possible go into the guts but he doesn’t want to be here - no faith he will get played. So confused about what’s going on behind the scenes. If Lappin staying for 5 years, is Scott staying, therefore, all Scott’s staff are no good but he’s OK. Or, did they all not believe in this game plan that can’t win a premiership and vote with their feet? Pretty key period coming up with trade, etc to virtually have no coaches on deck and a vacuum on what’s going on. Also, would LOVE to hear how they pitch players that they will be played ! so, let’s say it’s all draft this year, the new blokes will no doubt turn up no expecting to play for 2-3 years based on the evidence - which is you get one or two games then it’s back to the VFL for a few years. Their teammates in the VFL who will guide them will be the very worse effected ones - Constable, Narkle, Evans, Krueger if he stays, Jarvis, Fort, etc.

Think it's pretty simple - young players will be given an opportunity and it's then to the player to show that are warranting of keeping their spot. We've repeatedly shown that we'll back in young guys but it's also up to them to step up when given the chance

Holmes & Clark both played a number of games in their first seasons with Clark a lock in the 22 until an elbow injury late in the season. Even then the both the player and club looked at all options to see if there was a chance for Clark to return for the finals rather than ruling him out for the season then & there, while this year we saw Holmes given the odd early game and then work himself into best 22 by seasons end

Parffit made his debut in round 1 of his first season and I can't think of too many if any games his played in the VFL - when he hasn't been playing senior football it's because of injury

Henry & Miers followed similar paths by spending their first year in the VFL, making their debuts in the early rounds of their second seasons and then holding their spots. The first time Henry was omitted from the senior team since his debut was round 1 this season, but back in for round 2 and had his best season to date. While for Miers he played 53 consecutive games from debut until injury struck and the 2 VFL matches in his return from the leg injury were his first since his first season

Can then look at someone like Ratugolea where you can very well argue should have played more VFL over the past couple of seasons, but instead the coaches seemed to have backed him in to try and fast track his development in the seniors

I also think we would have seen more of Evans this season if it wasn't for the ankle injury and the first VFL shutdown which came about just as he was returning. By the time the VFL resumed, Miers was returning from his injury and was always likely to return to seniors once he looked over his leg injury - but had Evans been able to get a good run of things while Miers was out injured, he may have got another run in the seniors during that period

That needs to be the rule for everyone. Dahlhaus, Higgins, Kolo, Atkins, Bews, Miers all at times needed a break because they had bad form dips and the club backed them in. But then you have a guy like Holmes who was in and out before he got a string of games in finals.

You have to commit to giving young guys 4 match blocks, because they need the exposure. We could have given Evans 4 games late in the season when Dahl was spudding it up and clearly struggling yet we persist with Dahl until he becomes unplayable and dropped for finals.

We are giving young players a game here or there then dropping them. No wonder they want to leave when you see older guys in poor form keeping their spots while you slog away for a game then get dropped.

Henderson should have been dropped after the Port game. We should have given finals exposure to SDK or Kreuger and instead we give games to a guy who either is about to retire or is gone next year.

Kolo and stewart. How many medium size third man up defenders does a club need?
Hi mate,
How are you?

Jakey gets a mention :rainbow:
'Really solid player' says our new defence or midfield coach. :D
