The umpires friends, PEGS beat Whitefriars by about 8 points to go win the Herald Sun Shield today (well they still have a final to go, but ******** opposition)

They got up thanks to about 4-5 goals from 50m penalties including an 80m penalty at one stage

Friars still should have won but ******** kicking cost them, however the umpiring was appalling, Friars couldnt touch anyone.

Oh well, there is always next year to get the Shield back

Like eddiesimth said... There were about 4 50m penalties which resulted directly in goals to PEGS... It truly was a disgraceful umpiring performance...

As a neutral observer I also thought the umpirning was bad but it advantaged the team that was first to the ball. PEGS got a string of free kicks in the 3rd quarter then Friars started to win them in the last quarter. Coaching wise, you have to send a message and drag a bloke who mouths off and costs a goal (no matter who he is). Even taking him off for a couple of minutes - if not the next bloke does the same, as happened, and you lose another goal.

Friars did win a couple of free's in the last quarter... but they didn't result automatically in goals...
There was a 50m penalty paid against Petracca for throwing the ball to high when giving it back to the opposition... this took them straight in front of goals... maybe it was silly, but it in no way warranted a 50m penalty and therfore certain goal...
Then there was a 50m penalty paid against Murphy for a late tackle which also resulted in a direct goals...
There were countless stupid free's given and not only did PEGS get at least 3 times as many free's as the Friar's, there free's took them right in front of goal...
In a game when a team scores 8 goals and 4 of them come from free kicks... the umpires have obviously had an impact on the game

those score lines have showed that st pats can take it up to PEGS. If i was PEGS i would be watchin out because st pats r a real chance in the final. there has been so much hype about the friars and PEGS. but no one has even thought about st pats.

st pats played one good quarter against st bedes which was the third and still beat them and if they played like that all game they wouldve thrashed them.
