I just think Stevens will be used off the bench for the first few games. Its a gamble but i'll try to pick him up say round 3 or 4.
Why bother pricking him up at all?

I don't have him on my team.

I mean obviously at $350ish his price is (very!) likely to increase...but I don't think he is going to be a BIG scorer.

From what we've seen there's every chance Houli scores just as well and will have a far bigger % price increase. (Which is kinda irrelevant if he's scoring well anyway!)

I'm willing to take the risk...(Now I can totally see myself trading him in for an under-performing gun after Rd. 2.)

You think Houli will score just as well as Nick Stevens? Why not have both then?
Houli's played 4 games in his career. Nick Stevens is a proven gun. Add Judd to the Carlton team and Stevens moves down the order in terms of copping a tag. He ave'd 102 in the NAB cup.
What more do you want from a player under 400k?

3) I hav 2 rookies starting in the BACKS, i hav used tht extra money 2 improve my mid range players around the field, is tht 2 much o a risk?

4) potential 2000+ SC score this week?

Not shabby mate :) Keep an eye out for fev though, you would hate him to ge tdropped mid-season... :)

He's "meant" to play tomorrow... but we won't know till tonight i fhe's been named or not. :)

3) I hav 2 rookies starting in the BACKS, i hav used tht extra money 2 improve my mid range players around the field, is tht 2 much o a risk?
:D Playing rookies is essential, the question is where you feel most comfortable with them... some say back, most say mids. ;)
4) potential 2000+ SC score this week?
It's round 0... every team is a 2000+ team. :p

Pre-season? One monster game, one not so good game...tough to get any real trend in only 2 games...
Av'd 116 last pre-season...came out with 102 and 71 in first 2 games of the real stuff. (88 in 3rd, but did he get injured during the game?)

Never really been a GUN...highest av. for any year is 88 (DT)...106 (SC) in 2005, but only thanks to two HUGE games, still had 9 games of 90 or less.

Now a sore neck, another sore neck, a sore knee...a man who's played ONE full season in 9 years of football...

Like I said, no doubt he'll bring in the cash, but will he score enough to be a keeper? Not sure.
Bit like Kosi last year, but with a far smaller upside (price-wise).

In my team specifically, the only way I'd get him in would be to drop Hayes (which I have been toying with)...but as we all keep saying, trades are valuable things...

1. Its decent but it will descent as the season progresses if you're a noob that doesn't manage it.

2. Latest I heard he could possibly play round 1 but will more likely miss 1-2 weeks.

3. Define risk. Some poeple are starting 6 rookies, some none.

4. Why do you consistently ask that? If you're building a team to purely 'score 2000 points' this week then you'd be one of the guy i'd recommend taking a good long look at the player U.Jabroni.

Heard something interesting on the radio this morning. Tyson Stengalein was being interviewed on 92.9 and mentioned (when asked about the ususal Judd and Cousins leaving question) that a number of exciting youngsters will fill the void and we would see Selwood, Ebert and McNamara on Saturday night possibly Chris Masten too.

Now I don't know if he meant that they were in the running but the way he said it indicated that they were going to play.

Which is interesting. I don't have Selwood in my team but if he is named I think he is a lock for me. Has one of the highest pre-season rookie averages.

Might have to take a look Masten too if he gets named, kid has class.

uuurg... it's a bloody tough one! I mean, on one hand he might only play a handful of games this year... But on the other hand, if that handful is the first 6, then it would be worth it!

tough, tough decision. :D Perhaps I'll just have to take whoever is named out of him or Taylor. :D

Taylor vs Selwood is my backline dilema too, however Pieffer is in the mix as well.

Pieffer has the greatest chance of holding his spot.

Taylor will more than likely be squeezed out when Egan gets back mid season. Thats cool, however Taylor also has to fight out with Longeran to keep his spot and a couple of bad games might see him dropped. Maybe.

Selwood will score the most but even if he plays round 1 is the most likely to get dropped out of the 3.

Then there is L.Hansen. Playing on the wing might see him grab a few touches.

The thing is, who cares? Cash cows tend to top out between 6-10 games... so he just needs to get the games until Egan returns. :D (Providing that Longeran doesn't take his spot!)

Thats what I'm afraid of. If he gets named round 1 and plays badly might get dropped after 2 games worse case scenario and doesn't make me any cash at all. I think its tocuh and go Taylor vs Longeran with Taylor in front at the moment.

Pieffer on the other hand might slot in and become a regular.

Yeah, pfff would definitely be the safest bet in my opinion...

It's a rolled ankle though... he's only gunna miss one or two games... Would you get on him if ottens wasn't missing round one? ;)

(still, could be worth a crack though as your #30... :D)
Funny you say that because I'm considering it. However right now I've got the standard Ruck setup and long term Kreuz/Hampson will be better.

Very tempting though.

I'm also really tempted to jump onto Gamble. I think he will hold his spot. However I'm happy with my current two forward rookies.

Chappy is looking more and more likely to find himself on the outer come the start of the season. I hope Geelong make it easier for me and drop Chapman for this week.

Ottens out, West in.

Get on him.

Gamble also playing.

Get on him too.

Giddiup.
id be more inclined to chose gamble than west. west will prob only play the 1 game. if jetta is not named for the dons i might bring in gamble for him. the problem is i have rioli and tippet as my other fwd emergencies and i believe they will also play. dont know whether to draft gamble in or not. decisions, decisions, decisions. will have to wait til 3 (good ol perth time) when the teams come out

I'm finding myself in a very similiar position. The problem (similiar with my Selwood issue) is that Gamble will probably average the most out of the forward rookies. The question is will he get a game.

I just traded out Chappy (yes I know ) for Gamble and traded one of my rookie midfielders to DalSanto.

I'll probably go back and forth till lockout tomorrow.

Bomber has said Gamble will play, so waiting till today's teams are released isn't going to tell you too much. :p
