Would love any advice as in my league the winner takes away $1500
Gees I wouldnt mind a league like that!!!

:)

Backs - Proud is a little iffy. How much is he worth? Might be something better out there

Mids - Decent, might need some more cream though.

Rucks - Ok

Forwards - I like it but might look at other options for Franklin as his consistency is an issue

Hope this helps!!!

A few quick questions guys, thanks in advance.

1. Would you pick Chapman if you had the cash?

2. Bowden+Lucas OR P.Burgoyne+B.Johnson OR Milburn+B.Johnson

3. If you had to start 3 rookies (>$150k) in your midfield who would they be? (Palmer, Houli and...)

4. C.Stokes from Hawthorn, is he any chance for a game... is he even on the senior list?

Gracias amigos.

Hmm I'm having a little bit of trouble selecting my last gun backman. I don't really want to say the rest of my backline though.

I'm leaning towards McLeod, but I'm concerned that his role as the primary HBF rebounder will diminish this year - with the inclusion of Symes and the suggestion that Johncock may be taking over his role - in addition to the possibility that his game time will reduce (getting on in years, he's 32 isn't he?) I know he was a massive scorer last year, but I'm concerned that he won't be getting the same scores this year.

Who do people suggest is the best option and/or best value pick in the backline in between Newman and P.Burgoyne? (Not out of those two, but BETWEEN those two... everyone in between their prices).

1 - I would but there are many players costing less that have a better upside. He will need to average pretty high to keep / make $$$.

2 - I like P Burg! Gets plenty of it and value is ok. Lucas is a lock for me at the moment so I guess im biased. Not much of a fan of Bowden although Johnno / Milburn will go well

3 - Thats the question on everyones lips!!! I personally would not start rookies in any position. Some may say your crazy or that youd have no chance on taking the prize away, but I beg to differ. Everyone has different stratergies and such, you need to find something that works for you. As far as the rookies / youngins go, I like Tuck, Houli, Palmer, Hampson, Sellar, S Selwood, Rioli just to name a few!!!

Hope this helps!!!

I'm in a similiar situation. I'm trying to find the extra cash to keep Bowden without trading B.Johnson down to Lucas.

P.Burgoyne can produce consistent scores and the odd massive score, however he's coming back from injury.

Milburn is Mr. Consistent however has had a limited pre-season.

McLeod you've already given your reasons.

Fisher's scores will drop as Goddard returns.

Fletcher is getting old.

If you haven't got Gilbee or Shaw I'd take them in that order.

Unfortunately I do have them already, they seem to be the only two without terms and conditions. :)

You replied before I had a chance to edit my mistakes but thanks for the post.

I'm a big fan of Bowden cause he's one of the guys that racks up cheap possessions and puts out 100 on a 'bad' day.

Lucas was a lock for me until I realised that he goes up and down too much, like his 124 two weeks ago and 50 odd last week.

C.Stokes from the Hawks, I'm suprised he isn't talked about a little bit more after a couple of good showings.

Has P.Burgoyne played any pre-season games and if yes how did he go?

Johncock will be the designated kick in boy so should get plenty of it...

I understand your like for Bowden...

But will need to average pretty high not to drop in value!

I read somewhere that P Burg played on the weekend and did pretty well...

Had a swagger of possies and kicked 7 from memory...

Can someone in the PP know confirm this?

I'll answer yours now.

1. I have the cash for Chapman, but I'm not getting him. Rumours of a niggling injury, and the fact that he is over 600k, keep me clear. I think he will drop in price, and if he gets to abuot 570 or so, I'll snap him up.

2. Hard to answer, because like you said, similar situation. If you already have the Chad, then downgrade Bowden and get B.Johnson. Otherwise, get Bowden I'd say.

3. I would suggest Armitage, though he isn't guarenteed to play round 1. It may come down to how he plays this week. People are suggesting that there are still big names to come back into the Saints midfield, but I'm pretty sure Hayes, Del Santo,Montagna, Ball and Harvey all played on the weekend, and Armo still got 144. I've rated this kid since I first saw him play in a Saints intra-club last year, and I think IF he plays, he will get the scores and rise we are looking for.

4. If Muston is out for the season, I'd say he will get promoted. However, it's unlikely that will happen in the first few weeks. Generally promotions happen after rookies have a chance to prove themselves.

I have both Lonergan and Nicoski in my backline, and am looking to replace one of them with a 1st/2nd year player, to used to the extra cash to upgrade my forward line.

My question is this - Which one should i get rid of, and out of the players priced between $83,400 and $100,000, who will actually get a game come round one?

Albert Proud?

Darren Phieffer?

Nick Lower?

Scott Selwood?

Gavin Urquhart?

Someone else? There seems to be a limited choice in terms of 1st/2nd year backs..

I'm pretty sure it was Shaun who dominated, kicked 5.

Yeh see I'm not concerned in my guns don't make money or even go down in value. I know if you're smart you will wait till guns go down before getting them, especially the 600k+ guns, however I'm a little easier with my cash. Bowden may go down but he's good for those scores. My only slight concern is that his pre-season has been a little average and McMahon might steal some cheap possessions off him running off half back.

Milburn imo is 'safer' than P.Burgoyne... but no risk no reward they say..

The first two are your best bet.

Nicoski is more likely to play than Longeran. If he can run into some form Nicoski will be a great buy.

Thats my 2 cents.

Yep I've got Gilbee, the first player I chose.

Yeah that's true about Johncock, but he will only get points for it if he plays on.

Thanks though.

Just wanting to get some peoples thoughts on a couple of players

Steven King - will he get constant time on the ground at the Saints?

Akermanis - seems to be having a good pre-season and is realativley cheap

Cheers,

For the Chapman query, he's a must get, but not in round 1 (or consequently 2 or 3).
He'll take a bit to fully warm up after injury last year.
Only played his first match on the weekend V Lions and i assume he didn't have much TOG.
One more game this week V Richmond and he'll play more you'd assume, and then be heading in the right direction.
$$$ set to his best, but once he gets going you gotta get him in, just not right from the start.

As you can only choose one but will probably want to have both by the end of the season I'd suggest get Milburn. He's very consistent and won't have the same price fluctuations as Burgoyne. You can pick up PB after he has had one or two downers and he is better value.

I fixed my team up a bit, now should i stick with milburn or swap him with gilbee?

I'm also thinking of trading neagle for another rookie, still got 30k left over.
Id go Gilbee...

Just to mix it up abit considering you have a few cats players and Mackie to boot!!!

Who would you trade for Neagle? I guess you could go Sellar or Rioli...

Hope this helps!!!
