I'm suprised you think Tippet will start over Sellar.

For the record I do too, however the NAB game this week will give us a little more insight.

I don't think Proud will start. Great pre-season form, however too many injured Lions will be walk up starts for Proud to get a guernsey.

Bird is a swan. A young swan. That makes me nervous about picking him. :p

Palmer and Houli should start round 1, however form will dictate if they keep their place.

All this talk about S.Thompson taking Hansen's place has me nervous about him too.
Tippet offers more than Sellar but both may start.

Proud will start

Bird is a shoe in

Plamer will start Houli not certain

Hansen will play Thompsom also.

Better?

probably not :)

You don't think Houli is pretty much a guareenteed start? He's an expensive 'rookie' to get and not play a game. I'm actually leaning towards C.Morton, Tuck or J.McNamara now. Argh.

BM whats ya thoughts on the three rookies just mentioned above?

I'm not sold on Proud. Doubt Adelaide has the room to start Sellar and Tippet with players like Gill hovering in the shadows.

Nope Houli is behind Stanton, JJ, McVeigh, Winders,

Cale is too skinny for AFL and I cant see him playing unless Mark Riley wants him dead.

Tuck? Yep hard nut.

Jamie, get on him.

Gill has had an interrupted preseason will play SANFL first.

Proud will make you.....well proud I guess.

Wouldn't you say Tuck is behind more players at the Hawks than Houli at the bombers, especially given pre-season form?

The player I most can't make my mind up about is Armitage... most Saints fans want him to start. But who knows what will happen given their quality midfield.

Heard Roos on the radio today talking about the ins for this week. He mentioned Bird and just the way he was talking sounded as though he counts Bird as part of the starting 22.
Also, there is an article on the AFL website - Jess Sinclair reckons Urquhart and Hansen are the 2 in line to take his spot while he's on the sidelines.

I wouldnt waste my time with Armitage.Once the real stuff starts and if Stkildas midfield is fully up and running which i am led to believe is at full strength atm Armitage wont get a look in.At best he may play off the bench in some games but will get very little game time if he does which makes him a very expensive liability to have

Ok guys just a quick question on how strong you think your midfeild needs to be at start of supercoach.

At moment really strong in backs and not to bad in mids and back. But thinking if downloaded say juddy to a coughlan frees up 300,000 and could start with really strong forward line to, only really needing to upgrade mids over course of season, ideas?

Current Mids
Dal Santo
Ablett
Judd
Stevens
Dyson
Houli
Bird
Palmer

If downgraded judd to coughlan would this be to week of mids to start if this gave me very strong backs and forwards.

There is a player who will play before Armitage, from the whispers at St.Kilda.

That's an impressive midfield, but given it's quality i am curious as to how strong your backline and forwardline are. My only query would be over having both Dyson and Houli in your team, both of which play similar positions in the same team and might be less likely to obtain high scores concurrently.

**** I hope so, a good player there. :thumbsu:
gahhhhhhhhhhh.

everyone is saying this year's midfield is the easiest to play rookies.

i'm not convinced.

BM or anyone out there in the know at Melbourne, how is Meeson doing? Has he been playing and will he get a run ahead or together with Jamar and Johnson? He'd be an expensive dud to have on the bench.

I hear he might be up forward this season.

Chinese whispers though.

By backline is awesome, so no worries there, current forwards.

Pavlich
Steve Johnson
Fevola
Hall
Akermanis
N Thompson
Reimers
C Rioli
Seller

If got rid of judd probably go to somewhere along the lines
Pavlich
Steve Johnson
Lucas
Delidio
Fevola
Dew
Jetta
C Rioli
Reimers

and be left with about another 50k to maybe improve that forward line more.

Just trying to some up if its going to make me mids to week though at start, will be plenty of opportunities to cash them up though, with the likes of dyson, houli, coghland and stevens all likely to rise in price

The 2nd option is definetly a stronger looking prospect. Who would u get instead of Judd?

I think my team is looking pretty nice atm, although im unsure about my backline and forward line

BACKLINE= Cornes, Burgoyne, Gilbee, Bassett, Mattner, Bock, Ellis....Proud, Pfieffer

1) Bock, im thinking he will play farward line at adelaide this yr with the likes of welsh moving clubs.

2) i never rated Mattner in previous yrs, but all i have heard of him this yr is excellent news, and with malceski out he is almost a certainty in playing, is he a decent scorer, hoping 80 each week with 100 every nowq and then, or should i go sum1 else?

3) ellis, at that price....?

FORWARD= Brown, Johnson, Fev, Dew, Thompson, Jetta, Murphy(WB)

1) Fev definatly in 4 a big yr? with tht midfield providing him with the ball, should cum more frequently and alot better 4 him.

2) Dew and Thomspon both incredibly cheap, will they be playing, and will they both score on consistant basis with good scores(mind u they are my 5th and 6th forwards)

3) jetta, back from injury, touch more expensive then a rookie, will he play, is he a chance of a score of 100+ every now and then?

Any feedback, plz

Hi folks,

My team, any advice would be good...Thanks...

Backline
--------
C. Cornes
P. Burgoyne
A. McPhee
G. Birchall
M. Mattner
S. Hurn
S. Thompson (NTH)
D. Pfeiffer (EMG)
S. Selwood (EMG)

Of the 3 rookies, yet to decide who starts, depends on first round teams obviously. Or should I try to find some way of upgrading one of the rookies to a mid range player (perhaps Nicoski?)

Midfield
-------
K. Cornes
D. Cross
S. Thompson
N. Stevens
R. Dyson
B. Houli
B. Ebert (EMG)
S. Valenti (EMG)

Rucks
------
J. White
T. Simmonds
M. Kreuzer (EMG)
T. Cartledge (EMG)

Forwards
---------
N. Riewoldt
J. Brown
B. Johnson
Al. Davey
J. Porplyzia
J. Koschitzke
L. Hansen
C. Rioli (EMG)
J. Morton (EMG)

Ok, so I still have $82k left over, and i'm thinking:

a). Upgrade a L. Hansen or S Thompson (NTH) to a mid range player to start?
b). Upgrade S Thompson (ADE) to another gun like Chappy?
c). Upgrade Ricky Dyson to maybe a Gibbs or a Ryan Griffen?
d). Keep the cash for Round 4 updates?
e). Upgrade anyone else???

Thanks all...

a) The players available at that price make that upgrade not worth it. Concentrate on selecting the best option.
b) I like S.Thompson, I think with Goodwin and Edwards spending more time forward he may take the next step.
c) I'd stick with Ricky D.
d) Don't be too concerned about spending or not spending all your cash. Pick the best team you can.
e) Consider the following:
1. McPhee to Gilbee/Shaw/Milburn
2. A.Davey to anyone better.
3. Your second ruck to Hampson or Meeson.
4. White to Cox.
5. Birchall to a gun.

Yeah Tuck will definately play round 1, given the 3 retirements, and 4 suspensions - that's 7 spots up for grabs. Lewis is back round 3, Crawf round 5, and Hodge round 2. I would hope Tuck could hold his spot with those guys coming in. Hopefully he can average a nice 70 or so for the first few weeks to give us a nice jump in value.

Ok its clear that its important to have your rookies and cheep 1st/2nd year players play in the first 3 rounds to up the value. (especially if you have them starting!)
Beside the players iv listed just give a yes/no if you think they can give us 3 games early in the season. Maybe bold or indicate your favorites/best value, out of the list.

The problem is I don't think he can hold his spot when those players return and then it becomes a forced trade.

This is pointless. Everyone will have a different opinion and more often that not thats all it is - an opinion which changes daily and from person to person.

Just read through some of the threads on here, I'm pretty sure I discussed this with guys like BM and Hellfire very recently in this very thread.

NAB and pre-season form is very important, however we need to remember that teams which have players injured or being rested may not necessarily blood their younsters in round 1. Also with the rookies one or two bad games will see them dropped. 20 trades is all you have.

Me personally? I liked Houli and Jetta but dropped them both. I'm one of the few that thinks Proud will struggle to get a game, as will Sellar. Even L.Hansen isn't a sure in.

Palmer will get a run, as will Tuck and possibly Rioli.
