a) The players available at that price make that upgrade not worth it. Concentrate on selecting the best option.
b) I like S.Thompson, I think with Goodwin and Edwards spending more time forward he may take the next step.
c) I'd stick with Ricky D.
d) Don't be too concerned about spending or not spending all your cash. Pick the best team you can.
e) Consider the following:
1. McPhee to Gilbee/Shaw/Milburn
2. A.Davey to anyone better.
3. Your second ruck to Hampson or Meeson.
4. White to Cox.
5. Birchall to a gun.
Thanks for the advice,

I have revisited and:

Maybe a risk, i have down graded Hurn to X Ellis (100k cheaper and hopefully, Ellis as a (kinda) 3rd year play could bump his average up)

Upgraded Birchall to H Shaw

Downgraded k Cornes (just too expensive) to D Swan (or S Mitchell...thoughts on this trade??)

Upgrade Al Davey to Corey Jones...

And just a matter of opinion, Riewoldt to Pavlich (any thoughts, my thoughts are Riewoldt with a possible knee, and Pav is just Pav).

As for the Cox issue...this is a major concern...i'm thinking (ok hoping), Cox will come down in value a tad by say Round 6, and by then Cash Cows (like Pfeiffer) may have upped and then i can trade White or Simmonds up to Cox...

Thanks for the advice aswell...

I'm not a big fan of Ellis at all. Could be a dangerous move. Hurn will at the very least keep his spot and pump out consistent numbers. Ellis may not even hold is spot if the Hawk youngsters play well.

Corey Jones is awesome at his price IMO. I'm seriously considering downgrading Chappy to C.Jones.

Cross > D.Swan

I'd get Gilbee over Shaw but thats just a personal preference.

Pav > Riewoldt, that call made easier by the fact that Riewoldt is under an injury cloud, limited pre-season, etc etc.

Thanks Spartan,

Not enough cashiola to get Hurn now with other upgrades...maybe Nicoski for Ellis (if Nicoski is selected in R1).

What are your thoughts on Bazza Hall??? He let me down last year, but from reports he's havin a pretty impressive pre-season...

Not a fan of Nicoski either at the moment, however rumour has it he played a decent game last week. Having said that, IMO Nicoski > Ellis.

I picked up Bazza this year. He's in at the moment. At that price it was a little too good to pass up. I don't think he can get too much worse.

You would be better off saving some cash somewhere and upgrading Ellis. :thumbsu:

11. Goodes (MID) 0
12. Thompson.S (MID) 0
13. Black (MID) 0

27. Hall (FWD) 0
28. Jetta (FWD) 0

30. Thompson.N (FWD)
Replace Mcintosh with Troy simmonds, as you shouldn't have two high priced rucks.
If that's Simon Black you have got, then trade him as there are form concerns, maybe look at a Cooney or someone like that.
I wouldn't get Nathan Thompson because of coming back from an ACL, maybe replace him with Hawkins, Porplysia, etc.
Too many cheap defenders. Maybe Downgrade Cornes to a Gilbee or Shaw. And use that cash to upgrade the cheaper defenders.

eh?

Thommo played well in 2006. CJ played well in 2006.
Thommo didn't play in 2007. CJ played well in 2007.

erm..

so yeh...

I like stuff. Do YOU like stuff?
Jones averaged 83 in 06 with Thompson playing. Jones played a lot more freely and spent a lot of time in defence.

He cracked 100 5 times and top scored with 150.

No Thompson last year and he only scored 100 twice (which occurred in successive weeks) and averaged 10 points less a game.

From memory he also got injured and score less than 10 in one game (don't quote me) which would affect his average.

Hmm... you're making me think about getting the Jonester now... that extra 130k will help too..

Yeah he scored low in one game due to an injury I think.

I'm not sure if I'll go near him. Its touch and go.

Corey Jones averaged 88 in 2007 and thats with the one game he got a really low score.

Hrmz.

to Jones or not to Jones.

Gah.

I like Chappy though. Maybe Brown has to go..

Ok, so,

Presently the team looks like:

C Cornes, S Fisher, L Gilbee, A McPhee, M Mattner, ???, S Thompson (EMG), D Pfeiffer (EMG)

D Cross, D Swan, S Thompson, N Stevens, R Dyson, T Tuck, Brad Ebert (EMG), Valenti (EMG)

J Fraser, T Simmonds, M Kreuzer (EMG), T Cartledge (EMG)

M Pavlich, J Brown, B Johnson, C Jones, B Hall, J Porplyzia, L Hansen, C Rioli (EMG), J Morton (EMG)

Now, the ??? in the backline WAS X Ellis, now upgrading him i have $409k, so...what do people think:

1). M Scarlett - Injury cloud, likely to get number 1 tall forward with no Egan
2). S Stevens - ???
3). J McDonald - Coming off injury
4). J McMahon - Richmond chip chip style may suit
5). B Symes - I quite like him at this price
6). Any others???

Agree with Chappy over Brown...Brown could score a million, but I dont like the look of Brisbane, Chappy almost guaranteed 100+

My stats were DT
The increases in scores are still relevant when considering Super Coach.
Valid point, but not necessarily so. DT and SC are scored differently on different criteria so the type of position or game a player plays will potentially impact his DT and SC scores differently.

I see what you're getting at though.

Jones 06 ave 95.5 with 10 100's
Jones 07 ave 88 with 8 100's

His scores are more consistent in 06 as well.

lol you told me to keep Chapman and trade Brown but you have Brown insted of Chapman.

Derrrr.

This is just my opinion:

Drop Kreuzner to Hampson. They will score about the same, get the same game time and Hampson is 40k cheaper.

Ok you can either get Symes and have ~80k left over which you then use to upgrade McPhee to Shaw or Milburn.

OR

Get Symes and use your spare cash to upgrade Mattner to Johncock.

I currently have Chapman in my team, but have heard he hasnt played any practise matches this year? (bit hard to keep up over in the UK).

Thoughts on Chapman+Dew/N.Thompson or Steve Johnson+Tredrea

Cheers

Hazey

ps - THANK GOD SC is back to pass my night shifts here in London!!!!

A question for my esteemed collegues.

Select the best option.

a) D.Fletcher (bac), K.Tippet/J.Sellar (for - bench) and P.Chapman (for)
b) H.Shaw (bac), C.Stokes (for - bench) and P.Chapman (for)
c) H.Shaw (bac), L.Jetta (for - bench) and S.Lucas (for)

I'm worried about Fletcher. However his average (and subsequently price) from 2007 is affected by an injury game when he scored soemthing like 10. Problem is that he is old.

Jetta has been mentioned by Knights as playing a role through the midfield. Not only does that mean more points, it means a regular game. Possibly.

H.Shaw is a gun, doesnt really have quiet games.

Chappy is.. well Chappy.

S.Lucas has a high average and a high price but he's a little up and down. Perfect example being the last two weeks, 120 odd followed by 60 odd.

C.Stokes from what I've heard is on the rookie list and won't get a game.
