I'd NEVER barrack for the crows under any conditions BUT I'm not overwhelmed by bitterness/jealousy/whatever about you guys either. I just don't have a "second" team. It's Port or it's nobody (yeah I know, it'll be nobody in September this year. Life DOES go on though)

I take my hat of to you Portenous. Maybe you could teach the confused/scared DT a thing or two about loyalty and character.

yeah....we booked ours for October...knowing full well Sept would be a big month..:thumbsu: :)

one up on you Mad Dog - we have influenced the movement of Gymnastics nationals from September next year to July so that my family can run them when they are held here in Adelaide. ;) :D

I guess there is a percentage of supporters who are bitter and twisted, but have to be bitter and twisted, otherwise they have no reason d'etre for supporting football or a club.

Some people support a team purely to hate on another, to feel elitist among themselves, belonging to a coterie of like-minded bitter-twisted. Not even knowing or appreciating football is part of it, just enough to get them thru. No appreciation/respect/understanding of deeper football levels, or great men from other clubs, etc.

Kind of like EPL soccer thugs but it's the verbal/mental war, putting others down and deluding onself to higher self-worth than the reality.

hey g.g......take a break from yourself......you're starting to give me a headache.......waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy ttoooooooooooo intense

That wasn't directed at anyone mad dog.

Anyway, what's it matter to you? Ignore me. Though me too intense when you have someone like Springchoke babbling away about who he considers worthy of respect or who he decrees should be shoo'd away?

My comments are only too intense to those who can't handle the truth.

Remember, you Crows fans....your opinions and worth is only as equal as the rest of anyone else. You all ain't that special or better.

I see your mouth flappin' ........but all I'm hearing is...."blah blah blah"

:)

mad dog...you laughing at me doesnt make it funny per se. You may just be a bit too disturbingly easy to amuse?

crow-mo...you guys be the judge of whatever you like, it still wasnt funny in an objective judgment. If it was funny I would have laughed too.

Taking your attitude and using it myself....all that matters anyway is what I think anyway, what any of you think is unworthy of my attention.

Anyway, seriously, just moseying by, wasn't here for a drawn out debate about it. Later.

Like most SANFL supporters ( Non- Port Adelaide )I have the utmost respect for the old Port Adelaide Footy Club, there record is second to none, albeit in a second string competition . That respect is magnified becuase of years and years of ownership of my beloved Bays. But I have no respect for the 3rd rate franchise masquerading as a footy club, Port Power, who choose to align themself with the old Port Adelaide only when it's convenient for them to do so. I have come across many old SANFL Port Adelaide supporters who feel the same.

What also irks me is that DT, while professing to be a "i support both SA clubs" his comments would suggest otherwise. You regularly see anti-Crows or anti-Port comment on each others boards but it is only the anti-Port comments on this board that he seems to take great offence too. I rarely see him take offence to anti-Crow sentiment on the Port board

GG, are your comments aimed at a particular supporter group? Your initial post barely makes sense. What are you actually trying to say (in plain English)?

It takes a special sort of person to laugh at one self when he/she is the subject of ridicule. :thumbsu:

That's why.

The loudest anti-Port Crows fans are the ones that regularly trudged home from West Lakes with their arses (complete with tear-stained cheeks) in a fetching black and white doggy bag.
No! not in my case. I was a full-on Port Supporter, in all those years (and before then )except 1992 (after the Crows came in). I had all intentions to keep my alliance with PAFC (like you) up until the Power came into existence. I quickly got turned off them because of their arrogant, loud mouthed, abusive supporters. That's why.

As far as I am aware DT supports the Magpies in the SANFL and the Crows in the AFL.
I have been on these boards for a few years and I do not recall him ever saying otherwise.
As far as his sticking up for Port players such as Tredrea goes, that is no different to say myself sticking up for Ricciuto and others on the Port board from time to time.
I certainly have no feelings for the Crows whatsoever but recognizing players or coaches ability is another story.

It's ok, don't worry. I was just trying to get some comradrieship back into the whole SA thing, seeing as we both represent SA/SANFL in the AFL (which is a state v state comp really now).

But I don't hold anything against anyone for totally seeing things differently to me. You guys are ok (individually).

No they are not.
Geesh you're easily fooled. :p

Simple reason for that, Springy ol' jet.

The people who make anti-Port comments in 2006 are the same ones who made the same anti-Port comments in 1996 and 1986.

For instance your typical Glenelg tryhards, who in their Tony Symonds and Super Carey dufflecoats saw the Bays go back-to-back in 85/86 when in a freak accident of Chernobylesque proportions all the planets aligned and the spirit of Mary McKillop winked towards Brighton Road simultaneously.

Just because the 9 SANFL clubs (including Port Adelaide) joined forces under the league's auspices to create a superclub in 1990 - which I supported from the get-go and have been a member of for a decade - doesn't mean my pre-AFL allegiances or feelings have changed.

I've grown up hearing lemon juicers such as yourself bag Port Adelaide FC left and right. It's a natural instinct to defend the club, regardless of current day affiliations - just as you'd still defend your beloved FC Pallindrome to the hilt from naysayers such as myself.

As far as not being as vocal in defence of Adelaide FC, if on the rare occasions I visit the main board and see a post which has clearly resulted from in utero-alcohol exposure I speak up, but yes, I tend to let comments from Port fans go through to the keeper because at the very root of the rivalry I empathise with their motives, even if I don't necessarily agree with the outcomes.

As well as the obvious fact that I don't agree with the hackneyed cliches that are usually thrown back, ie "what's a Power?; Port Power est 1997; wharfie this; paralowie resident that". Unfortunately "Erm, we're not fruit tingles mate" or "Alan Scott, you were right!" just doesn't have the same zing nor accuracy.

Unfortunately Springinha, unlike the pre-1997 SANFL, the world isn't always black and white.
