Would hate to see that happen personally.

Also think the State guernseys should be off limits as they are an earned privilege above and beyond club football.

We should just wear our original 1991 strip and the AFL should continue to get a kick in the arse for creating concepts the majority of the non-Victorian clubs can't properly participate in.

I agree. I would hate to the the Crows play in North's V or Candy Stripes as they are completely different clubs. Original 91 is the only thing we could go in, Heritage Round in the AFL is crap.

agree with all that...

Our heritage began in 1990 - and we should be proud of that....

Older is not necessarily better

I suppose when you look at it that way... yeh, probably better to leave the SANFL club jumpers alone.

Yep, the AFL should get a boot up the bum for their continued Vic-centric s**t.

Agree. Played our first game in the hoops. Won our first flag in the hoops. Heritage Round can be kept just as a reminder to all the Victorian clubs of when they used to be good.

Spot on.

Our heritage is from 1991 onwards, why should we pretend it isn't?

What i was insinuating is that Sons of Jars will be our first f/s picks, most probably in 10 years time.

Garry McIntosh did not play 100 games for the AFC and therefore his son does not qualify;)

Stephan Jarman (son of Andrew) is available for the 2009 or 2010 draft, so only 2-3 years to go, is playing for North Adelaides u14 or u15 developmental squad and should definately be worth a look as our first Father Son Pick.

Unless Jesse Aish or Brad Thomas win a Magarey this year if course:D

Note: Sam Lee (son of Scott) is also available in 2009, if only his old man had played 14 more games

I think this is my position as well.

I also think Port should wear their first jumper from 1997

Sorry, doink...

Garry Macca-intosh versus Andrew Macca-leod.

Pwned :(

Garry Mac was going to be selected for the initial list but he wanted to stay at Norwood. Disinterested in playing AFL.

The funniest (to me) story was when North Melbournes John Dugdale came overwith a paper bag to sign him up

Apparently he locked himself in the house and rang Nerio? ( insert Norwood official) saying '' help me theres some bloke called Doug Dale outside wanting to sign me up ''

One day we will all realise that VFL still doesn't give a shit about football over here. One day we will get a father/son, but lets not devote our time to thinking what could be in 3-4 years time. These same issues with heritage and f/s are going to come up again and again and again, so it's all beating the rug.

Why is everyone so keen to ignore the hundred years of SANFL football that lead to the creation of the Crows?

You do count your grandparents as part of your heritage dont you?

If we are going to go with the original Crows jumper, we might as well not bother and just use the current one, its the same anyway. What will they do? Get Adidas to knit a few woolen ones?

Exactly right. Bring back the yellow one with the red and blue single hoop and white SA on the front.

That stirred up a hornets nest. We need another state jumper debate to fire things up a bit. ;)

I kinda liked the shield with all the SANFL colours on it.

I would also like to see the crows adopt an SANFL club's strip each year for a while. What does everyone reckon?

Yeah, like the prison bars! How funny would that be. :)

Agree with this –

I proudly carried my grandfather WWI medals at the Dawn service on ANZAC Day and have done so for the last 6 or 7 years since his passing.

Are we going to find a way of participating in the heritage round this year? Has the club made any public comment on the situation?

Enough about what those nice () Port Power fellas are/not going to wear this year, what are we going to wear? I like the Red, Yellow, blue and white vertial striped one here http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=318621&highlight=Heritage

I like this one - there's elements of the foundation pre-season jumper and the current clash jumper in the design.

A lot of people consider the SANFL State jumper rather sacred, yet I'd prefer this over an individual SANFL club jumper anyday (even Sturt's).

Great post, every year the same thing happens and people argue about heritage, but it seems there are many that dont understand what the word actually means.

History and heritage arent the same thing. The crows have a history dating back to 1991, but our heritage is from the South Australia National Football League which the side represents. Just the same as a child born in Australia to English parents has an English heritage even though the child might never have been to England in their life.

The only side that was born without a heritage was the old Brisbane Bears Football Club, but every other side has a heritage.

on the scott lee one he may become eligible with the afl proposing scrapping the 100 game rule to just a single game, ofcourse hasnt been confirmed yet but if it does he would become eligible for us.

Is this really fair? you can pretty much seal this in stone if Collingwood can pick up an absolute gun player cos his father only played 1 game!

Despite what I said earlier, I also believe that the SANFL is our heritage because of the fact the league put the Crows together as a composite SANFL team to represent SA at that time in the AFL.

If an SANFL club jumper was made available to the AFC to celebrate a part of SA football history then go with it. But I've said it before, leave Port Adelaide's part of it to the Power.
