As maligned as he is he was actually having quite a good season. We're not completely shot so far as finals goes and offers more in regards to two way running and kicking ability than Kelly does on a wing.

By his and his fans very low standard, agreed, it was quite good. Probably good enough for 25th in the b&f, which would be about 80% of his seasons.

The man, the myth, the legend.
Bigger than ever....o_O

“D-Mac gives us a little bit of flexibility,” Clarke said.

“He’s obviously played wing, he’s played half back throughout the course of the year. He’s missed a couple of weeks with the injury but his training form’s really solid and he’s always in great condition so we’re confident he’ll be able to step straight in and perform a role.”

clarke doesn't sound convinced. "little bit" and "training form". if campo did the interview we would've heard "train the house down" and "run and carry".
Didn't even mention his experience. That's another string to his bow

Poor DMac..gets cracked ribs, comes back and fans give him a bagging :(

How about putting a positive spin on this thread: who should we have chosen instead of DMac?

He has big game experience.

Predictable consistent conservative selection

I thought we ended that culture when we traded Gibbs

Since DMac made his debut, the AFC have a record of 118 wins, 1 draw and 79 losses in games that he has played. In games he has missed in that time, the record is 7 wins and 14 losses.

yes. His presence in the team forces everyone else to play better.

That number isn't accurate. He's missed 52 games since debut, not 21

The actual record without Mackay is:

No Mackay: 22 wins, 30 losses (42.3%)
Overall: 140 wins, 109 losses, 1 draw (56.0%)

And excluding the Neil Craig era the record is:

No Mackay: 14 wins, 10 losses (58.3%)
Overall: 96 wins, 1 draw, 62 losses (60.4%)

In years we made finals since Neil Craig:

No Mackay: 9 wins, 4 losses (69.2%)
Overall: 66 wins, 1 draw, 30 losses (68.0%)

So since Neil Craig got sacked we have a slightly higher winning record without Mackay than we did overall in those periods
