Really, who cares. The game is lacking any true charisma as it is. Good on hewitt and thank god he will be around for another decade to follow his career which no doubt will be a success.

BACKFLIP :D :D

Admit it mate, you were wrong!
I stood by the fact that he hadn't changed THAT much from his 'teen' days!

He loses and the poor baby chucks a tantrum.
And I read an article today, guess who the first person he phoned was? Him Mum :D
Poor baby ..

I guess as a Brat you are qualified to comment on him.

Your obsession with seeing him fail is dumb.

Bad luck Leyton, see you back in the Lakes soon.

The thing I find the most funny out all of this, is Easty has been going on all week about Hewitt has chaged and it was his teen years etc etc.

Yet he comes out today and gets beaten, and had more than 1 tantrum during that match.

Quite funny :D

For God's sake

he is passionate and aggresive - give him a break.

You should know all about tantrums Luke.

So Easty i take it now that you are going to admit that Hewitt still carrys on like a pork chop and that you have been wrong all week with your comments?

Sorry. I know nothing about tantrums mate.
What is 'preceived' on a messageboard and what is seen in real life are two different things.

"tantrum" - a sudden burst of ill humour; a fit of ill temper or passion

There you go - you learn something new every day.

Sometimes I'd really like to tell you to shut up.

Now's one of those times.

So what if he chucks so called 'tantrums'. He's not the only player to disagree with the umpire. Obviously your disliking of him prevents you seeing this. Oh, he chucks one 'tantrum' and apparently he hasn't changed one bit...hmm sure.

YOU have missed the point.

Easty has been going on all week how Hewitt does not do this anymore, and look what happens?

Don't say once either, against Magnus Norman he was showing similar signs, giving the ump death stares etc etc.

Him disagreeing with any umpire doesn't necessarily have anything to do with it. Its when things don't go his way (ie winning?) he chucks a tantrum.

tan·trum ( P ) Pronunciation Key (tntrm)

A fit of bad temper. Also called regionally hissy2, hissy fit

Hissy Fit?

Does that suit better.

Hewitt chucks a Hissy Fit? :D

I didn't see enough of the Magnus Larsson match, but I don't suppose you noticed El Aynaoui's disagreements with the umpire yesterday.

I never said once and I don't deny he does it. But it's nothing to get ya knickers in a knot over.

I agree with ya there BG :D
Everybody gets frustrated at some stage of a match and it's not only Hewitt that does it everybody does.

Who said you denied anything!!!! That was between me and Easty! I never accused you of anything.

No I only saw the end of the match where Hewitt chucked a 'tantrum' about losing a point. Had nothing to do with the umpire.
Sorry.

a) No-one said I denied it, I was just saying I don't deny it, as in, I don't disagree with you that he does get a bit huffy, if you wanna call it that ;)

b) I don't see the big deal about the 'tantrums'. Or the fact that people pay out Lleyton for doing it and not others. Would someone care explain it to me?

So you only saw the end of the match and yet your going on about it? How does that work?

It's probably a good thing you didn't see all of the match. It got a lot worse. Very entertaining stuff from my dear Lleyton though ;)

I am not hassling him directly here. I dont like the guy that much for the way he is. I am hassling Easty because he has been going on all week how he has changed, well seems he hasn't changed as much as he thought ..

I saw the last set where he threw his racket about 5 times (racket abuse?) and had little hissy fits along the way.
Quite entertaining, I guess thats his job :D

Mmm, but one 'performance' doesn't necessarily mean he is the way he was. Personally I still stand by the statement he has changed. Hissy fits, how cute, wish I'd stuck around for the last set now ;)

lol, very simple to understand my friend, although he should have said hewitt and not blewitt coz it's not funny.

If Hewitt kept his emotions in check... it probably would've ended up to be a 5th set decider. He was so fustrated that his opponent was playing better and basically too powerful for him to handle that he lost concentration. Loss of concentration was his downfall. He also underestimated his opponent, very bad thing to do. That and his temper going haywire, his arrogance shone like a beacon in the sea that is the Rod Laver Arena.

What a load of crap

Lleyton gives his all every time he goes onto the court

If he didn't have such fire and passion he wouldn't be half the player he is agaisnt platyers with more natural talent.

Did you see his post match conference???

Underestimeate and arrogance?? you are a joke mate.

What a load of crap

Why?

Lleyton gives his all every time he goes onto the court

Of course he does. But he was clearly fustrated enough that this affected his game.

If he didn't have such fire and passion he wouldn't be half the player he is agaisnt platyers with more natural talent.

I didn't say that he doesn't have any passion or fire, I simply said that his fustration clearly affected his game. During Wimbledon, he kept his fustration in check and from this, it was shown that he played better that way. I wasn't doubting his ability at all.

Did you see his post match conference???

Yes I did. But I was talking about before and during the match. Besides, most tennis players are always humble in these match conferences and don't want people to believe otherwise. Conferences are not always a clear indication.

Underestimeate and arrogance?? you are a joke mate.

Why am I a joke? Because you disagree with me? Or because you think I'm another one of those 'Hewitt baggers'? Did you watch the match? I watched the match, and I am basing my conclusion from it. And I came up with a conclusion. Hewitt is one of my favourite tennis players, but he was fustrated and it did affect his game. Don't you agree with me that if he had of kept his emotions in check, he'd drag the match to a 5th set? Hewitt was dwelling in on the errors that he made throughout the match, and some of the line-calls. He played very well and good on him, but his fustration was his downfall.

And why am I saying that he underestimated his opponent? Quite clearly, he was swearing and very annoyed a lot of the times when his opponent hit unreturnable forehands, and aces down the line. The best indication was that Hewitt was angry that his opponent was beating him, and this was clearly fustrating Hewitt. Not only angry because of line-calls and errors, because of his opponent out-playing him when usually it is the over way around. A clear case of underestimation there.

All these factors made him lose concentration during the tie-breaks and beak-points of serve. Hewitt is one to always capitalise on opportunities, and if you lose concentration during the most vital of stages, you're always going to lose. His downfall was because of this. All I was saying that if he had little fustration and much more concentration, it would've been a 5th setter and hopefully a victory.

People can knock and laugh at Hewitt as much as they like, but the fact is he has stuck it up everyone by the fact that he is the best player in the world at 21 and is set to be a superstar of the game.
And out of interest did you question Pat Rafters mentall tougness when he lost Wimbledon??? Hewitt can be a tad annoying but he is a champion and has already achieved more in tennis than any Australian for many many years. He should be sitting back ****ing himself at how he has stuck it up all of his knockers

Right fair enough. My apologies.

But I do disagree with you.

I thought he just lost to the better man. I didn't see all of it but saw the end of the third set and all of the fourth set.

He may have been gettnig frustrated - but it was because he couldn't find a way past his opponent even though he was giving his all.

He said afterwards he left nothing out on court

A bit of aruging and earbashing are normal symptons of his fire and passion in my view - even when he is winning easily

The game in Adelaide against Petrov where he called teh crowd stupid is an example of that.

I can't see how he underestimated him - just because he lost

he knew it would be a tough matc and so it was

The way El-AYnoui (sic) played, reminded me of Pete Sampras at his best, he was that good.

Anyway -we can agree to disagree.

Good post.
Yes I do believe Hewitt has improved his behaviour, which he has.
Lets enjoy the next decade of this great player, its been long enough for this country to wait to get someone who can consistently play at a high level. Now lets just enjoy it. I will.
