i have noticed that there is a fair amount of anti hewitt sentiment here on bigfooty, so but what gives?

the bloke if very full on but has cleaned his act up a fair bit in the last year, so i am wondering if i have missed something along the way?

I have no reason to hate him, alright he gets for Adelaide but no one is perfect

He always gives 100% and that's all you can ask from him, I never used to like him but he's grown on me over the last 2 years.

Yeah he is a success and at 21 is probably worth at least $100m bucks with plenty more to come. Some people just can't handle that.

What I hate about Hewitt

Yes I am from South Australia, and yes I hate Hewitt.....

First off - he behaved badly on court before, and still does now (I hate all that 'yeah come on' crap- isn't needed)

He is arrogant, ugly as a hatful of arseholes (yes I am female), self centered and egotistical (anyone recall how he treated his former coach Darren Cahill.........my point exactly!)

He is a tool of massive proportions - sad thing is he can play tennis.......

so except for the tennis thing, he differs from most elite sprorts persons how exactly?

I'd much rather Hewitt, than someone gutless like Phillipoussis. At least you know Hewitt will give it his all and loves representing his country.

He is by far the best player we have had since Newk!

He is a great tennis player who has done some things that have been a bit unecessary

But hands up anyone that hasn't???

We expect too much from some people.

I think he has modified his behaviour which shows signs of increased maturity.

He's only 21 for god's sake.

I prefer Hewitt with personality to someone like Matty Lloyd for instance who has none.

Agreed. Hewitt has that flame inside that all complete Champions have. Muhammad Ali came across as a bit of an arrogant prick, Michael Jordan used to talk an unbelievable amount of trash when he was younger, the fact is Hewitt is incredibly passionate about his tennis, works his butt off and plays harder than anyone else I've ever seen. If you watch him, you'll see that he sprints for *every* shot, even those which are probably out of his reach. The guy hates failure, and refuses to tolerate anything less than 100% from himself. That isn't arrogance, thats excellence. I don't know that I'd like to be his best mate, but I do admire his commitment and ability immensely.
