I've actually had personal contact with Sarah Monahan well before this case came to light, and without even knowing that she was a public figure at the time, so in some strange way I feel like I have a personal stake in justice being served here.

Glad it was and that shitheel gets at least little bit of what he deserves.

It wasn't asked directly but it was asked.

I believe Simone answer that. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and guess she was a bit naive (as she said) but she said as she was only 18, she trusted that they would do something and didn't feel the need to take it any further.

I guess Sarah Monahan further explained that when she latter said they would have just gone straight to the top and avoided following that level of hierarchy.

Just that as a group of people they felt so strongly about what had happened that they didn't follow up with it after the show had been axed.
Just a shame that is all that it has taken almost 25 years since the show finished for the girls who were traumatised over this to get justice.

Abuse is a lot to deal with, there's no right or wrong way to deal with it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but unless you're a victim yourself you can never comphend the situation and how it can affect your thinking.

Shit comments like this hint at blame on the victim.

Not at all, and I apologise if it came across like that.
And there is no way on gods green earth would I lay any blame whatsoever on Sarah or any of the other girls that were invloved in this.
In fact my comments were mainly based around getting Hughes to answer for what he did to these girls much earlier.

Has just been sentenced. 10 years and nine months, six years non parole.

A decent whack. :)

Not really.

How many underage girls was it in the end - 9 or 10

one year per offence. Those girls have lived with it for their entire life.

10 years is a long time but I wouldn't call it a "a decent whack"

Is he forced to watch "Hey Dad" in jail????

That would be a harsher sentence.

Oi - quit it you.

Nudge was one of Australia's finest characters we have created.

Nudge, Alf Stewart and Ted Bullpid.

In fact if it wasnt for so many girls coming out, he may have survived, one on one allegation, she said, he said.

Kudos to the girls that stepped forward.

Here I am thinking Carl Williams from Underbelly.

Nothing beats Bea Smith. I think everyone knows her either watched her on tv or told about her through parents, grand parents etc.

At 64 years old, he's ******, pretty much a life sentence this.

Such a shame.

I would like to have seen the people that turned the other way when the girls first reported the bs going on.

That is the ones that allowed it, because the show was a hit. Not the ones that didnt know what to do.

You'd hope so but he will only spend 6 years

It will depend on what jail they send him to. If it's in general population at say a maximum detention center, he will have a very hard time. But if he gets in a low risk minimal correctional center - he could do 6 years with little worry.

Yes, it is, when you take the emotion out of it. When you take into account how onerous his time in prison will be given his profile and crimes, and the average sentence for such offences. Ever spent time in prison? It is a very unpleasant place to be. I have a legal background working in criminal law, so I can assure you this is not a light sentence.

I feel for his family to be honest. What a shame and disgrace it would have bought onto them.

Dkhd had no regard for his actions on the girls nor his family.

Could someone tell me did he "fondle and exposed himself" or did he actually rape any of the girls?

Apologies for not knowing what the legal definition of rape is in this case?
Was convicted on one of his counts of digital penetrating a 15 year old family friend. As far as I am aware this constitutes sexual intercourse within the meaning of the NSW Crimes Act. The rest of the offences as far as I am aware related to indecent assault and the like.

As much as I would like to agree with you, he'd got a minimum of 6 so he'll be out around his 70th birthday.
Although you'd like to see him spend every day of that 10 years behind bars.
