I prefer sports that emphasise maximal strength and power so I've found myself moving away from Aussie Rules football slightly.

Ha! Sumo wrestling for you, it looks like.
Come to think of it, forget the ex basketballers. Lets put a big fat sumo in the square and see if that helps our clearance rate;)

Believe Chris Bradshaw your doctor has also left your club. Is returning to Melbourne Sports Precinct.

On a slightly different note - why did oh why did we not grab Voss as our midfield coach?? Port have improved their coaching significantly with him there.

Gone to Collingwood
I know Trav had spent a bit of time in the medical room the last few years but I wasn't aware that he had hired Chris to be his own personal doctor! :D

I've heard of a guy that's right for us. Got a reputation for healing the sick, making the lame walk and every now and then he even raises the dead. Hell he might even get Menzel back on the field. Nah, not Gary Ablett. They call him JC.

Is Joel Corey coming back.

[QUOTE="jacross, post: 35567094, member: 25041"]The appropriate fitness metrics seem to be trend based and this is probably largely due to the changing game styles. It wasn't that long ago (5 years) that strength and explosiveness was the championed specialisation. Now, at least for the Hawks, an emphasis on improving endurance and work capacity is key.

Not that you can't be big and have endurance but at the elite level of each fitness aspect, you have to sacrifice one for the other.

It's going to differ depending on the individual athlete's role as well of course.

I'm hoping that Vardy for starters is aware of this successful trend. He looked overly muscled , slow and cumbersome prior to his ACL.

Vardy looked over-muscled, slow and cumbersome>?????

Are there 2 Vardys at the club?
Only the overmuscled, slow, and cumbersome one. It's a physical thing.

Well the Vardy I have watched didn't look slow and cumbersome. More like athletic and agile for a man his size.

Are you perpetuating a myth?

you are aware that's not actually Vardy, correct?

The last games I saw Vardy up close, a few of us thought he looked too muscle bound, and less mobile, and said so here on BF. Can suggest he could easily lean down a lot and assist his joints and mobility that way.

came onto the board today to see any news about the new fitness team

maybe Scott is in the US checking out candidates
