With the delisting announcement today was this:

The club has also restructured its high performance area, and will seek a new head of high performance. The role had previously been split between Kris Hinck and Chris Spinks who will both move on from the club.

“Both Kris and Chris made important contributions to our success over the past four years including the 2011 premiership win,” Balme said.

“We continue to strive for improvement in the way we operate and we have decided to revamp that area. We wish both all the best in both their professional and personal endeavours.”

As best as I can view this as an outsider, this is a good move IMO. For the first time in a decade this year I felt we were behind other clubs in its physical performance. Hope this goes some way to bridging the gap.

Proactive move and a good one.

2013 - Started games slowly, finished fast
2014 - Started like a house on fire then faded dramatically in games.

Fit enough, not fit enough?

Basically , we need to get fitter without getting injured. We need to maximze our performance to qualify for finals and then to be at peak in finals.

But ... I also question our approach re skill. Have these guys input had us kicking the ball less .
I think our skills were better at the start of the year , by the end we looked out of touch. More ball work required from my perspective , certainly our conversion indicated we need to practice this more.
Duncans interview after the north game sounded like he thought too many did not do enough in their own time on this front.

Robinson wasn't it?

Why not go the Port route and get a guy from EPL?

One thing some of us noticed after 2011 was the direction the fitness staff went with the players. They preferred more muscle over leaner body types.
Hawthorn and a few other clubs went the leaner method and shredded kilo's (veterans and all) while others went with the added bulk. North Melbourne made quite a few of their players lose weight last summer so they could impact games in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

It may have back fired with us as we simply struggle to run out matches as the game has become faster and a lot more emphasis has been placed on gut running, right down to the bloody forwards.

Yup, no big bodies for us anymore like Swans or like before. There is so much obsession with pace that people forget you actually have to be able to get the footy in the first place and that most likely will be in a pack.

I want us to go back to being Strong through the core/Hips and keep our feet. How often do we easily go to ground these days?

We struggle to stick tackles and to break them. We're no where near as strong as before that's for sure.

There is a guy called S.Dank that I've heard about. Maybe they will look at him? Supposedly knows of a simple sure fire way to get the boys performing well! :D
That Hird guy could be our assistant coach.

I'm happy to hear they are reviewing everything, but I'm assuming it would happen every year

My concern is the back injuries. Simpson, Bundy, Hawk and Sj (this year I believe) all having crook backs within the last 18 months.

That's 4 very important players to us, I can't see it being a coincidence and must have something to do with whatever training we are doing

It's more than a review this year though, they're replacing the incumbents.
