Kadour Ziani (5'10) has a 60'' standing vertical leap, which I believe is the world record. He plays basketball, some of his stuff is on youtube.
That's 56" and it's not "standing", also it seems he's 5'11". For mine it would be more likely that the best vertical leapers would be those athletes who train specifically to do that. They are called high jumpers and the differential record is 59cm by Franklin Jacobs (USA) and Stefan Holm (Sweden): this measurement is the difference between an athlete's height and his best clearance. For a 183cm athlete (C of G approx 98cm above ground) it represents a vertical jump of about 157cm.

Good Evening Viewers

Two years ago Jared Brennan visited the school where I teach. When I asked him what his best vertical jump was he replied 105cm which was at the draft camp.

PS FWIW, I found a summary on topendsports.com

Jarrad Waite leaping from a standing start to spoil or mark takes my breath away.

I saw Waite play ruck for Carlton's reserves before he was drafted and he was competitive at that level because of his leap.

But he still needs to work on his decision making.

His clangers make me leap higher out of frustration after he does something spectacular before making a simple error. :D
