So its still cricket season and with world cup fever in the air watching the game tonight and a few (many) repeats of the GF I have a feeling Roughy is a bit like Pavlov's dog eveytime Hilly is streaming down the ground with the ball.

they seem to have a great chemistry, do champion or others keep stats on this data/play?

The phrase "Hill to Roughy" ran through my head several times tonight. Hill's disposal after a long run down the wing is sublime.

I really wish Champion data would fix the goal assist stat. Hill could beat 7 players and drop the ball on the goal line for roughy to tap through with his boot and it isn't an assist but he could have a set shot drop short and Roughy marks it and it is a GA.

If that stat was kept, im sure jarman to dunstall would be high up

Someone at the game yesterday turned around and said Hill will be better than Rioli by the end of his career. Interesting comment.
Very different players so hard to compare. Hill will likely never have the same level of concentrated brilliance Rioli has that allows him to turn even the unlikeliest opportunities into goals. Hill however has the amazing mix of speed and endurance that allows him to create goal opportunities for the team consistently over entire games.

Did Smith drink the same excitement juice. In the second half he appeared to say 'anything you can do I can do better'.

Smith Mitchell Hill. Could become our best ever centre line. I said in a previous thread that Hill could be our best ever wing and got savaged. I stand by that statement.

Regardless, two more to add to our list of elite players.

I am sure that you and most on Big Footy are aware that I do not place much emphasis on statistics. I totally agree with you on the goal assist stat.

A game at the Gabba against Brisbane in about 1995 ,the then out of favour, Gary Ayres won a hard contest on the full back line, delivered the ball to a link player who then gave it to Jarman who hit a leading Dunstall lace out that resulted in a goal.

How many stats in that passage of play and who gets what recognition. In my opinion the most important part of the play was Ayres winning the hard ball. All around me only spoke of Jarman's pass to Dunstall.

Fair call Lord....At 21, Hill has already accomplished what many AFL players never will....The kid has huge upside & a real bargain at Pick 33 in the draft.

Isn't there a greater emphasis on score chain involvement rather than goal assists. From memory Birch was league leader last season...

JL up there too and Cryil on a per min played basis...

Cyril is second only to Hodge in his unselfihness EVERY game. He will block and shepherd and tackle and chase and handball the ball away to his team mate. He is one of the most valuable players in our team. If he plays 20+ games we will be in the grand final mark it down.

Edit: Not that we can't make it without him but its a lay down misere if he's playing all other things being equal

Prior to his injury last year, Sizzle was our number one rated player according to champion Data rankings!....In fact he was top 10 league-wide as Champion Data actually takes note of such silly things like: Frontal Pressure, Inside fifty retention via ball-use, tackling, chasing, shepherding, score-chain involvements...You know, all the insignificant things that most supporters don't notice or take heed of!;)....Well, Cats supporters anyhow!:D

Cyril's pressure around the contest is worth 2 players. In fact even when we're on the offensive he helps us play like we've got an extra
