over the years i have not rated this bloke as a full time ruckman.. not since the days of barnes has essendon been a force in the ruckwork. and with a quick midfield is vital to get first hands on it. sure he can go forward and push for another tall but reality is our forward line is already tall and i would be more concerned on having a specialist ruckman, i think he is lazy and has really never had the pressure of being dropped, hes had everything thrown at his feet and i really dont think he will ever get to the potential he has. i would like to see ryder thrown in the ruck and more of laycock

I said Laycock will be our number one ruckmen by the end of the year and i hopefully I am right we need him to come good. As for Hille is lazy I rekon that's wrong he is one of those blokes who always tries and you know your going to get 100% out of him, I like his physical presence also he cleans up blokes and sheppards well. It's just his tap work will never be be dominate over other ruckmen in the comp the best he can do is break even.

I think Laycock is a freeloader in this team- when is he going to throw some weight around and play like a ruckman, because that is his only hope.

agree i dont think laycock will ever become a great ruckman. dont even think he will ever be our number one really. i think his just a fill in ruckman htat will ruck until paddy is ready. no offence to him is a good player but not the best of his position. as for hille i think he isnt bad does all the hard work around the ground, gives it his all, he just isnt a great tap ruckman,

as i have said in other threads i don't think we need hille, laycock and paddy in the same team.

not many teams have 3 big forwards, and paddy was playing on guys like walker and wiggins on saturday.

gehrig will be suspended this week so we only need two key defenders. paddy looked very good in the ruck, whilst hille and laycock had no impact on the game

Keps needs to play ruck....i think he could make it..that and i dont want a top10 pick down the drain..seriusly tho i think he could..the game v pies showed that..

I know but in terms of Ruck division development i see it as a step forward..We have one less ruck this year then last (departure of Carts.) so i dont see why Kep couldnt do it..He has shown he can in the before mentioned game and Jeff White is a similar height so i dont see any reason why it wouldnt work..It would only add to offensive our offensive options..Give him a few years in the position and its all systems go.

Paddy has chb nailed, Andy Lee seems to be progressing nicely too as a defensive key at bendigo and our Forward tall depth is well documented. Add that aswell with the arrival of Darcy Daniher next year to the defensive ranks and it seems the best option..

kepler isn't going to make our side as a ruckman so what is the point of him playing there

As I've said before, Laycock is more in the mould of Alessio. He is a forward who can play in the ruck to rest the ruckman. Paddy should be our number 2 ruckman. (Hopefully number 1 by years end, but I highly doubt it)

Pretty sure i heard otherwise but i will take your word for now..If darcy is a forward then he has a massive wait ahead..If Kep is groomed as Chb that only leaves Paddy and Andy is defensive options for Fb.

I agree with that. I think Paddy has more potential and ability than Laycock and would hope he is being groomed as our number one ruckman as he develops his body. Laycock just doesnt convince me of anything.

Hille needs to drop a good 10kg.. and hand it to laycock and wed b doin alright... Hille trys his guts out and takes some good marks.. But he is fat slow around the ground and cant get his fat arse off the ground..How he was gettin outmuscled by Whitnall and Cloke indicates to me.. It is alot of fat and maybe hes not strong eniough...

i saw him play against sandy dragons two weeks and he played across half forward.

he isn't a defender. he kicked a goal on the weekend as well.

i hadn't seen him play before than and he really impressed me. he ran all day and it looks as if he has a calm head on his shoulders
