I thought what Roos said On the Couch a couple weeks ago made sense in the context of the Geelong game. He talked about how its the bottom 5 or six players that win finals. The top players all cancel each other out but if you get a good contribution from the lower tier boys it really stands up. He added we dont have bad players. They all contribute. Ive wathced the game 3 times now and it was all in. The boys are hungry as hell!

Agreed. Caddy, Walker and West were worse than useless and Blicavs, while okay around the ground was a witches hat in the ruck. Lonergan got his ass handed to him and I think Varcoe must had had a bet on us.

His first 10-15 minutes had me worried that he'd have a down day, but he really exploded in the second half. His ability to keep on sprinting at his pace so late in the game is a massive x-factor in finals.

Fantastic goal from Hilly to seal the win. He also had 21 disposals at 90.5%. Which is pretty freaking amazing considering more than half of his possessions were contested. No other player on the field had the same impact that Hill had when he got hold of the footy.

I continue to be amazed at how seriously underrated this kid is, even by his own team's supporters. He is an absolutely elite midfielder and is going to be a massive weapon for us in the next few weeks.

I actually find him getting more cred then the other boys in terms of east coast media. Most mainstream sport journo's cant even sound out Mzungu but they know all about Hill and his running. IMO the best thing that has happened for Hill is Danyle Pearce.

ok ill own up! ive watched the hill goal probably 30 times now and the sight of the ball sailing straight over the goal umps head and thudding the back fence with the cats supporters sitting behind the goal as still as stone statues...with the only sound being the roar of our supporters filling the dodgy stadium.... a moment ill never forget!

Hats off to Tom Harley and Basil who obviously would deep down wanted a Cats win but stayed relatively impartial.

Not sure about that, Bazil was insinuating that there must have been some sort of interchange infringement for hill to get the ball like that.

Seeing this on Fox, Channel 7 or even just YouTube still gives me goosebumps. All that hardship, pain as well as under performance over the last few years summed up that kick. Came in, looked to Walters (his eyes were in that direction) then just believed in himself and went Bang. Personally never celebrated that much after a Freo goal than that! Can't overestimate how great it is to have Hill playing with this amount of confidence at this time of year. When he was down he would have passed it off.

I just loved this goal. The only negative of it, howeve, is that we are all neglecting his earlier goal, which was also sublime, running through the pack at pace, only an instant to control the ball, and nailing the goal. Genius.

I didn't hear any commentary as i was at the game, but i can guarentee that JB on MMM would be going off with a goal like that. I love the way James Brayshaw and Huddo commentate exciting build ups in play.

I get to listen to him in the media over here (footy shows, radio) and he comes across a bit of a toss bag. But his game day commentary is second to none, he actually knows our players and rarely stuffs up names like BT does.
