I think I owe Jimmy and all you Bomber forum guys an apology?
An incident has recently come to mind that may prove Hird is not soft after all.
It happened against the Roos in the first game for 2000.
Brent Harvey and his oponent were on all fours, fighting for the ball.
For all you non-roo fans, Brent wears the No29 is 5'7" and weighs about 63kgs.
Anyway, Jimmy saw that his team mate was in trouble and ran over to help him out, as Jimmy does. With knees first he smashed into Brent's side with such ferocity that it dislodged the ball from Harvey's grasp, and the contest resulted in a ball up.
This show of courage and strength surley inspired the bombers to a great victory that day. But unfortuneatly for the Hird, he had to leave the field. The collision gave him a nose bleed.
Long live Pony-Boy!
