P.S. how old is eastaugh36? I can't help but think while reading his posts that I'm corresponding with a 6 yr old. Maybe his mummy hasn't told him the bad news about Eastaugh and he still has Eastaugh's no. on his footy jumper.

Are you saying that 8 - 12 year olds can't use a computer or the internet, I disagree, most primary schools teach children as young as six to use the internet. The company I work for sets up networking for use in primary schools. You might be right about the spelling & grammar, but then a lot of adults aren't too good at that either.

This subject is really pissing me off ! James Hird is a champion, isnt soft at all and is a more versatile player than wayne carey as well as not being a big mouth,hird is more of an allround athlete and if you said that I could have Carey at Essendon in exchange for Hird I would tell you to get stuffed, mark my words, barring injury, James Hird will have a better year than carey fairy,so what if he is liked by the females, theres nothing wrong with that, its a bonus to be that good as a player and have the look, to iron mike, I say- Hird is married so how can he be a pillow biter ? You are just all jealous and I cant wait for round 1 where he will let his footy do the talking as we hammer north to kick our our flag defence !

2 points (too re-iterate for those that missed it)...

Scott Lucas plays CHF for the Dons. Hird plays predominantly in the midfield and then provides an option going forward. Watch the last half of the 2000GF to see what Hird does guys.

HE IS NOT, I REPEAT NOT A SPECIALIST CHF... OK? GOOD.

As to him being soft I'll quote ALI:

"float like a butterfly
sting like a bee
George (ie: anyone) can't hit
What George (ie: anyone) can't see"

By this I mean James is in and under the midfild packs (unlike a pure runner or receiver like say Craig Bradley) but is so effective at going to where the ball is at and make quick effective use of it that he seldom get tackled, let alone caught, let alone hit...

My point? Well my point is that the only reason Hird is considered soft is because he is so much better at effective, clean gathering and disposal in that midfield that poeple who don't watch what he does assume he much just be a receiver... the logic is how can he still be a pretty boy if he's really in the middle of it? Answer: speed of brain and movement so good its scary.

Stay fit James, win a few more Norms, Brownlows, Premiership medals, B&F's and keep quietly educating the prolls that, in the tradition of Dick Reynolds, Baldock, Dacios & Robbie Flower, you do not have to play in the style of a Carey or Brereton to be an absolute all time great.
