This attitude has shone through my recent highly entertaining perving upon the Essendon board. Appoint Hird because it would be the giantest **** YOU to the rest of the AFL that has ever been **** you'd. Much more important than finding a coach who can actually win some games.

Smells a lot like the certainty at Essendon that the purpose of trade week is to carry on like a bunch of campaigners, reaffirming that we are difficult to deal with. Don't worry about identifying needed players and doing what needs to be done to get them. Being difficult to deal with is the biggest win in football. Nothing else comes close.

What is the rationale of the group who wants him? I buy the theory Demetriou and McLachlan (with some "encouragement" from Costa) might have framed Hird to take the majority of the blame for Thompson so he didn't have to tear up Geelong's feelgood legacy, but the idea Hird did nothing wrong is unbelievable. I think he's an arrogant fool. He might actual be an evil bastard.

If Essendon holds onto this board they are asking to be abolished from the league.
