I WONDER how many of those crucifying Hislop on here were those calling for Jake King, Matthew White and Shane Edwards' scalp at the end of 2009 and again earlier this season????
Who says he can't turn him around!!!
Get a grip on reality ... he was the third pick in the rookie draft. Seriously, for every Michael Barlow, Brodie Moles or james Podsiadly that gets through the system, there is a dozen of Casey Sibisado, Relton Roberts, Jared Oakley-Nicholls, Eddie Prato, Henry Playfair or Taite Siverlock who gets picked up!!!
Matt White is still a hack who will be delisted in the near future. King probably in a similar boat, but if he can play the FP role well he may be able to stick around for a little longer.
The rookie picks are a long shot for sure, but why not take a shot on someone rather than a guy who has been on AFL lists since 2006 and never shown a single thing or even look like threatening to break out.
Also he is meant to be a poor trainer so what is going to turn things around now? If he starts playing in our midfield we are well and truly F*****. If he is there for a coaching younger kid type role like Miller then Hardwick needs to seriously reassess using the rookie draft for players and not for potential coaches.
Those bagging Sewell suggesting that he can't be that good because recruiters overlooked him, do the names: Mitchell, Barlow, Boyd, B.Sewell, Wellingham, Foley ring any bells. All not deemed good enough originally by recruiters. The guy won the B&F last year and then had a great year again this year and won the BOG in the grand final. If someone like Webberley goes back to the 2's and gets continuous BOG's he is deemed good enough to play 1's and gets promoted. How come a guy who has been doing this for years can't at least get a shot over someone like Hislop who I don't has ever had a BOG at Coburg.
Disappointing decision because if the guy is winning B&F's and Norm Smith equivalents then I don't care what recruiters see as perceived deficiencies because the fact is he must just be a GOOD FOOTBALLER and deserves a rookie spot at least.
