Fox it seems are giving me a week of channels that we dont normally get. (ESPN, W, Ovation, HC, MTV, Hallmark) Most seem reasonable though the Hist Ch is disappointing.

I was indecisive about the History Channel as to whether to get it on or not, but I have realised this week that the content, whilst generally interesting, is repeated up to 3 times in a 24 hour period.

Any other opinions of those who have it?

History Channel is great - most of the channels repeat their programmes 2-3 times. However, you certainly get a lot of options to watch over a week.

The HIstory Channel sin't all Hitler, WW II etc, but far too much of it is from an American perspective, and their simplistic aproach tends to put me off. Having said that, there is still a huge amouunt of good stuff on there.

History channel will tell you more about B-29's and Mitsubishi Zero's than you ever, ever wanted to know. Though ocasionally it's actually educational. Still, a back-of-the-weeties-box understanding of history is better than none at all, and I find it a fine thing to turn my brain off in front of.

They ran a month long devotation to the former Czar's of Russia about fourteen months ago. I enjoyed it a lot. It'd be exceptionally convenient if they'd do the same on the Spanish Civil War for my sake at the moment though.

I love the History Channel. I don't watch it as much as I used to (don't watch as much tele) but I still love it.

I disagree with whoever bagged MTV. I think its a good station. Jackass (dont know if it is still on) was a great show. Viva La Bam is the funniest show i have ever seen in my life. About a month ago they had the Viva La Bamathon which was a ****er.. I watch Newlyweds but only for Jessica. It has Bevis and Buthead.. Good channel IMO.

I only really watch

TVI (Great station)
Comedy Channel (Great Station)
Fox8 (Great Station)
Fox Sports (Great Station)
Footy Channel (Great Station)
ESPN (Alright. Has some stupid shows though. For instance today i watched the american maths championships. lmao it was funny though. Like 8 year old kids that are 10 times smarter than me.)
MTV (Alright Station)
V (Alright Station. I find it hard to just sit down and watch music videos or listen to radio unless i am in the car. I do things WHILE listening to the radio but i just cant sit down and focus on it, seems like such a waste of time)

Most of my viewing time is taken up by TV1, Comedy Channel and Fox8 though. I will start watching that Fox Classics channel now though since it has Home Improvement.

The fundamental problem with Foxtel is that subscribers cannot choose individual packages.

What is so hard about allowing subscribers to choose 20 of their own channels? I would much prefer this, as would most doubters regarding Foxtel want.

Why don't they offer us this?

I wouldn't need 20 channels. I don't care if we have to pay $40 to $50, but the packages just aren't consumer friendly.

TV1
FOX8
Fox Sports 1
Fox Sports 2
ESPN (Optus Entertainment Plus)
Fox Footy
Comedy Channel (Optus Entertainment Plus)
Discovery Channel
Animal Planet
History Channel (Optus Entertainment Plus)
MTV
V (Optus Entertainment Plus)
Music Max (Optus Entertainment Plus)
Arena
and throw in some news perhaps

and there aren't enough sports channels to start with!

How does cable and packaging work in the US and UK?

True, there's a lot of good stuff on the History Channel, but there's a lot of garbage too.
