To quote our fearless leader Ant Bear, the interchange is a specialist position, should be celebrated as such, and is absolutely not reserved solely for inactive have-beens who should have retired long ago, rookies vying for a "better" position (presumably the other interchange position), and straight up inactives.

Or, at least, I'm pretty sure that's what Ant Bear said, and not a horribly offensive remark about my treasured position and those who specialise in it.

As you know, interchange specialists have long been overlooked by this league. They haven't received the praise and adoration they have deserved. It has been made plainly clear to me that no interchange specialist will be seriously considered for All Sweet-FA honours, even if they dominate their position and have a strong posting season.

The league is worse off as a result.

But this means we need a place to celebrate all who play in the greatest position of all. Those who start on the pine but can impact the game in a multitude of ways, from a stellar defensive effort like Headless, to kicking the match-winner in the final minute like Headless.

Through the season, nominate quality interchange performances in this thread. And, for once, let's #celebratethepine.

P.S. This thread is going to be a HIT.

I always knew you had good taste.
I once heard that if he licks snow, he can taste the animals that live up to 1m beneath the snow surface.

Headless - if it wasnā€™t for the automatic inclusion of Captains in the All SFA side (and admins - letā€™s not forget that), Iā€™d be happy to join you in your noble quest !!

I wish you well !!

A taste of the brilliance to no doubt come in this thread.

It's Round 14, Season 28. Dragons FFC are leading the Mount Buller Demons by four points with one minute - that's one minute - remaining.

Enter Headless, who started on the pine.

4 : 24.01 {lW} - Blaze Storm takes off on a lead.
4 : 24.06 {lW} - Blaze Storm appeals for the mark but play on's the call.
4 : 24.1 {rW} - _Cayz_ slowing down the play.
4 : 24.14 {lHFF} - Geeze he's got onto that one. Pressure on Headless to mark.
4 : 24.18 {lHFF} - Headless makes great ground and takes the mark.
4 : 24.22 {lHFF} - Headless has it. What can he do with it?.
4 : 24.27 {lHFF} - Right on his range you'd think.
4 : 24.3 {lHFF} - Headless gets the goal.

Dragons FFC : 15.12.102
Mount Buller Demons : 15.14.104

4 : 24.34 {C} - No clear advantage to either side.
4 : 24.43 {C} - Quality gather by sausageroll.
4 : 24.47 {CHF} - Yakker practically snatches it of him.
4 : 24.51 {rFP} - He doesn't waste any time in getting boot to ball.
4 : 24.55 {rFP} - The Kingslayer did enough to prevent a mark being taken.
=====================================
SIREN SOUNDS FOR THE END OF QUARTER 4
Dragons FFC : 15.12.102
Mount Buller Demons : 15.14.104
=====================================

Headless, we salute you. #celebratethepine

I wish I could claim such impact, but the interchange has always been premium. People have just been too blinded by stats to see it.

U2, will you join me on the pine this year? #celebratethepine
U2tigers will have to occupy the second bench position. I have dibs on first bench.
