I have a bunch of stuff in my house I don't use/need/want, but I'm also against the idea of just throwing stuff away for convenience. We live in such a wasteful society, I like to make sure if things can be put to good use that they are.
When I was a kid stuff like sports equipment, bikes etc. was regularly passed down then as you outgrew it you would pass it down to the next sibling/relative/friend etc. People don't seem to do that as much these days. It's either 'hang on to everything because it's so cute nawww' or 'buy new, throw away, buy new, throw awy etc.'.

He lived in a council flat and they would have to come in and clean his house every now and then.
