Can anyone tell me where I can get the fields for the entire Hobart Cup Day of racing when they first become available?

Also feel free to give me some tips? I'm going and our work Punter's club will be having a wager on each race.

My tip would be to save your money. I have never come out ahead on Cup day, hardly ever even backed a winner... But still have a great day.
Surprised at that, in the 3-4 cup days I've sat down and had a bet, I've always come out a hell of a lot in front. One of my favourite punting days :D

Our Punter's Club has bet on it the last couple of years.
Last year, one of the guys in the club had Race 1, and he put his $20 on Military Quest in the 1st and it paid $40.40 for a return of $808. Was agood start to the day. We also got two other winners in Aprilia in Race 5 (Paid $2.90) and Seishona in Race 9 (paid $10). So we won $1,066 on an outlay of $200. Hopefully we can do it again this year.

I saw Rubijon is $15 or something - thought it was carrying 60kg or something but it actually drops down in weights since last start and BTR goes up...possibly worth a look at these odds!

I cant talk about the locals but it would be a cold day in hell if I was backing Ra Sun over 1400m with 59kg.
Having said that, they all have 59kg

Colonel Parker looks a consistent type & has Ollie.
Hasnt raced over 1400m though.

Anyone see the Riceman race that many of these come through on 28 Jan?

Rubijon went into 8's from 15's as soon as I looked at it. Didn't get on!

Ra Sun would be fav in that race but it never seems to win when fancied. Always seems to win at 8-1.

Alright- I got Race 6 in our Punters Club. Can anyone help me with selections?

http://www.ozracing.net.au/cgi-bin/rsb/public/al_format_wgt_rtg.cgi/1202HOB_.DFA?State=TAS for the field
You're lucky you got one of the smallest fields of the day. I'm not really up with Tassie form, but its a tough WFA race. Colonel Parker and Braequest would the two I'd consider backing.

I can never catch Ra Sun, never won at beyond 1200m either, Fine Omens only 2 wins from 11 tries the 1400m trip and not really up to WFA, King's Scholar is out of form, Undervalued is eligible for much easier races and doesn't look suited with 59kg. That's four I wouldn't fancy in the field of ten.

Probably the best shot for your punters club is to keep your eye on the newspaper tomorrow and see who the local 'experts' tip in that race.

HOBART CUP

I have it very close with the my top 8 all rated within 3 points of each other.
So I'll go opposite to everyone else and take some good odds.

Box tri's and quinellas (nothing too serious.. fun bets, as I don't really favour
anything in this field but got to always have a bet on a big race:) )

1. Field Hunter
3. Rubijon
4. Reggie
7. Tails Of Triomphe
10. Conquering

Good luck :thumbsu:

PS. Having said that Blutigeroo will probably street em.

PS. Ken, out of those I would pick Colonel Parker.

A few roughies getting up so far, not one favourite.

I'm on Soul Diva - AW Noonan could get Confectioner to win the Cox Plate at the moment.
Right on cue mate the favourite Blutigeroo gets in and wins the cup. Hadn't done much on the dry tracks until a few starts ago, certainly an in form stayer. Only a second outside the track record too.

As for Ra Sun - it's a donkey. Amazed it went around at $2.20 in the WFA race.

Looked like a great day down there, might have to try and get down there in 2008.

Thanks for all your help guys. We backed a couple of winners including Colonel Parker (I went each way though) and also got the Quinella in the Big One. Fantastic Day at the track. Most would be surprised, but there were actually a bevvie of beauties in the Tassie capital. It was bloody Hot too.:thumbsu:
