Said by Ric Charlesworth bagging clubs who preferred not to play games in Cairns and Darwin.

With all respect to his success as a Hockey coach I think this comment shows how little he knows about footy. Training for a six month season with players that require a lot of muscular bulk and have to contend with the physical side of footy have to be trained in a much different way than hockey players. To draw a comparison seems ridiculous. Of course trainig and playing in heat and humidity may be okay for hockey players that play in India, Pakistan and Malaysia but it is hardly a good thing for conditioning footy players before the regular season who will be playing in the cold and wet most games.

The man is an egomaniac (but an outstanding hockey coach) and they have taken a huge gamble on him. Desperate clubs do desperate things. They better button his mouth though.

The dockers are definately not desperate however I agree it was a gamble. The docker's have a young breed of players and once they are fully developed, they'll be a sure team to beat.

I think Charlesworth was a good option. Nobody knows what he will be like but I'm sure he'll add confidence to the squad.

Yes hockey players have to train harder for all those bone crunching collisions they have in that game.

i think charlesworth can bring a lot to the game
obviously he has to learn alot but he can also add a lot of coaching techniques
have a look at brittain, he never played afl
buchanan never played cricket for australia, played very few games for queens
you dont have to be an expert in a sport to be able to contribute
have a look at collingwood
